Local Furniture Removal Specialists in Islington
Working daily in Islington, we understand the realities of moving furniture here: narrow staircases, resident-only parking, busy main roads and tight access to period properties. Our drivers and porters work around these challenges every day, planning routes, arranging parking and protecting communal areas.
We regularly serve:
- Victorian and Georgian terrace houses in Canonbury, Barnsbury and De Beauvoir
- Modern apartments and new-builds around Angel and Highbury
- Shops, studios and offices across Upper Street and Essex Road
- Student and shared accommodation throughout Islington and nearby universities
This local knowledge means fewer delays, smoother access and a more efficient move for you.
Who Our Furniture Removals Service Is For

Renters
Moving flats or house shares? We regularly help renters with part and full moves, including carrying bulky items down multiple flights of stairs, handling tight hallways and coordinating access with letting agents or building managers.

Our Step-by-Step Furniture Removals Process
1. Enquiry & Transparent Quote
Start by contacting Man and Van Islington by phone, email or online form with details of what you need to move, your addresses and preferred dates. We will ask a few straightforward questions and then provide a clear, no-obligation quote, usually the same day.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For larger moves, we may suggest a quick video call or an onsite visit. This allows us to see access, parking, stairs and the size of your furniture, so we can allocate the right vehicle and crew. Accurate surveys help avoid unexpected costs or delays on the day.
3. Packing & Preparation
You can choose between:
- Full or partial packing service – our team carefully packs your smaller items into boxes and protects delicate furniture with covers and wrapping.
- Self-packing – you pack your own boxes, and we focus on the larger furniture, still providing blankets, straps and protective covers as standard.
We can also dismantle and reassemble certain furniture items where agreed in advance.
4. Loading & Transport
On moving day, our professional team arrives on time, walks through the move with you and then systematically loads your furniture. We use blankets, straps and floor protection where needed. Once everything is secure, we transport your goods directly to the new address using our modern, well-maintained vans.
5. Unloading & Placement
At the destination, we unload items into the rooms you specify, placing larger furniture where you want it. If dismantling/assembly was included, we will reassemble those agreed pieces. Before leaving, we invite you to check that everything is in the right place and that you are satisfied with the job.
Pricing: Clear and Fair
We believe in straightforward pricing. Our furniture removals in Islington are usually charged either:
- On an hourly rate for smaller or flexible jobs, or
- As a fixed price for clearly defined moves
Our quote will set out what is included: number of movers, size of van, estimated time and any additional services such as packing or dismantling. There are no hidden call-out fees. Congestion charges or parking costs, where applicable, will be explained upfront.
This approach allows you to budget with confidence and compare us fairly with other providers.
Why Choose Professional Removals Over DIY?
Hiring a van and asking friends to help may seem cheaper, but the true cost can be much higher if furniture is damaged, people are injured or the move overruns badly.
With Man and Van Islington you benefit from:
- Trained teams who lift safely and protect both furniture and property
- Proper tools, trolleys, straps and blankets for secure moving
- Goods in transit insurance for your belongings
- Public liability cover for work on your premises
- Experienced drivers who can manage London traffic and parking
This reduces the risk of damage, avoids last-minute problems and usually results in a quicker, less stressful move overall.
Insurance & Professional Standards
As a responsible removals company, we operate with full, appropriate cover and high working standards:
- Goods in transit insurance – protects your furniture while it is in our care and on our vehicles.
- Public liability insurance – covers accidental damage to third-party property during the move.
- Trained moving teams – our staff are experienced in safe lifting, furniture protection and customer care.
We follow industry best practice for loading, stacking and securing items, and we treat every job – large or small – with the same level of professionalism.
Care, Protection & Sustainability
We take pride in handling your furniture with care. Our teams use padded blankets, mattress covers and corner protectors where needed, and we pay attention to walls, doors and flooring to prevent scuffs or damage.
We also aim to work as sustainably as possible by:
- Reusing durable packing materials where appropriate
- Recycling cardboard and plastics from packing jobs
- Planning efficient routes to reduce unnecessary mileage
If you have unwanted but usable furniture, we can often suggest local reuse or donation options in Islington.
Real-World Furniture Removal Use Cases
Moving House Within Islington
From a one-bedroom flat to a full family home, we manage complete household moves. We can tackle stair-only access, split-level properties and restricted parking arrangements, coordinating the day around building rules and lift bookings where needed.
Office & Workspace Relocations
We support businesses relocating within Islington or into neighbouring areas, moving desks, meeting room furniture, reception seating and storage. If necessary, we can schedule the move for evenings or weekends to keep your trading hours uninterrupted.
Urgent or Same-Day Furniture Moves
Occasionally, plans change quickly – a tenancy ends sooner than expected or a sale completes ahead of schedule. Subject to availability, we can often offer same-day or next-day furniture removals in Islington, focusing on the essential items you need moved first.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do furniture removals in Islington cost?
The cost depends on the volume and type of furniture, access at each property, distance between addresses and whether you require packing or dismantling. Smaller jobs are usually charged by the hour, while full home or office moves are often quoted at a fixed price. When you contact us, we will ask a few simple questions or carry out a brief survey so we can give you a clear, tailored quote with no hidden extras, allowing you to budget accurately before you commit.
Can you do same-day or urgent furniture removals?
Yes, subject to vehicle and crew availability, we can often accommodate same-day or next-day moves within Islington and nearby areas. This is particularly useful for urgent tenancy changes, last-minute furniture purchases, or when previous plans have fallen through. The more information you can provide when you call – items, addresses, access and timing – the faster we can confirm whether we can help and provide a realistic timescale and price for the urgent move.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Yes. Your furniture is covered by our goods in transit insurance while it is in our vehicles and under our control. We also carry public liability insurance in case of accidental damage to property during the moving process. Our team will explain the key points of cover, including any limits and exclusions, before you book. For particularly high-value or unusual items, we may recommend additional arrangements so that you have the exact level of protection you are comfortable with.
What is included in your furniture removals service?
Our standard service includes a suitable vehicle, a professional removals team, loading and unloading of furniture, use of protective blankets and straps, and transport between your specified addresses. We can also provide optional extras such as packing of smaller items, supply of boxes and materials, and dismantling and reassembly of certain furniture where agreed in advance. During your enquiry, we will set out exactly what is included in your quote so there is no confusion on moving day.
What is the difference between your service and a basic man-and-van?
While a basic man-and-van can be suitable for very small, low-risk moves, our service is a structured, fully insured removals operation. We provide experienced, trained staff, proper tools and protective equipment, planned loading, and clear communication before and during the job. We are used to handling full household contents and offices, working with building management and managing complex access. This level of planning and protection significantly reduces the risk of damage, delays or unexpected costs compared with casual transport services.
How far in advance should I book my furniture removal?
For peak periods, such as Fridays, month-ends and summer, we recommend booking at least two weeks in advance to secure your preferred date and time. However, we understand that moves are not always predictable, and we do keep some flexibility for shorter-notice jobs. Even if your dates are not fully confirmed, it is helpful to contact us as early as possible so we can pencil you in, discuss options and adjust the booking once your plans are finalised.
Same day Removals
Same Day Removals Islington – Man and Van Islington
When you need to move today, you need a removals team that is organised, responsive and genuinely local. At Man and Van Islington, our same day removals service in Islington and surrounding North London areas is designed for urgent, last‑minute and unexpected moves – without cutting corners on care or professionalism.
Same Day Removals in Islington – What We Do
Our same day removals service provides fast, structured help for people who need to move at short notice. Whether you are clearing a flat, moving between rented properties, relocating a small office or reacting to an emergency situation, we can usually arrange a team and vehicle on the same day, subject to availability.
Unlike casual man-and-van operators, we offer a fully managed removals service: careful planning (even on short timelines), suitable vehicles, protective materials and trained movers who understand how to handle your belongings safely.
Local Islington Expertise
Operating as Man and Van Islington means we know the borough inside out – from Georgian townhouses in Canonbury to modern apartments around Angel and commercial spaces on Upper Street. We understand local parking restrictions, peak traffic flows and building access issues, which is crucial when every minute counts on a same day move.
Because we are close by, we can often attend quickly for surveys, key collection and emergency clearances. Our local knowledge helps us plan routes, secure parking and liaise with building management to keep your same day removal running smoothly.
Who Our Same Day Removals Service Is For
Homeowners
Completion dates can change at the last minute. If you have a chain pulling forward, a delayed removal company or an urgent need to vacate, we can step in quickly. We handle everything from partial moves to full household removals within Islington or to other London and Home Counties locations.
Renters
Short notice from landlords, contract changes or unexpected issues can mean you have to move faster than planned. Our same day removals are ideal for tenants in flats, HMOs and house shares who need a reliable, fully insured team to get everything out in time and delivered safely to the new place or storage.
Landlords & Letting Agents
We work with landlords and agents across Islington for urgent tenant clearances, end‑of‑tenancy moves and rapid property turnarounds. We can remove furniture and belongings, relocate them to storage, or deliver to an alternative address – with clear documentation and punctual attendance.
Businesses
For small offices, retail units and studios, downtime is costly. Our same day removals support quick internal moves, last‑minute relocations, exhibition logistics and emergency clearances. We handle desks, IT equipment, stock and archive boxes with care and discretion.
Students
Students in halls or shared flats often face fixed check‑out times and limited lift access. If you have left things late or your lift‑sharing plans have fallen through, our same day service helps you move your belongings quickly and affordably, without risking damage in multiple taxi trips.
What’s Included in Same Day Removals
Typical Items We Move
- Household furniture – beds, sofas, wardrobes, tables and chairs
- White goods – fridges, freezers, washing machines, dryers (disconnected)
- Boxes, bags, suitcases and personal belongings
- Office furniture – desks, cabinets, filing systems, chairs
- IT equipment, printers and small electronic items
- Student belongings from rooms, studios and small flats
- Disassembled flat‑pack furniture
Items We Typically Exclude
For safety, insurance and legal reasons, our same day removals service does not normally cover:
- Hazardous materials (fuel, gas bottles, chemicals, paint thinners)
- Illegal items or anything prohibited by law
- Industrial machinery or exceptionally heavy items requiring specialist lifting
- Unboxed loose small items that cannot be safely carried or stacked
- Animals and live plants in large quantities
- High‑value single items (e.g. fine art, antiques, pianos) without prior agreement
If you are unsure about a specific item, let us know when you enquire so we can advise or arrange a specialist solution.
Our Same Day Removals Process
1. Enquiry & Quick Quote
Call or message us as early in the day as possible. We will ask for basic details: addresses, access (stairs, lifts, parking), list of main items, preferred times and any deadlines you must meet. Based on this, we provide an indicative price and confirm same day availability.
2. Rapid Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For most same day jobs we carry out a fast survey by phone, video call or photos. Where time and location allow, we can attend in person. The survey helps us allocate the right vehicle size, number of movers and any additional equipment, and to firm up a clear price before we start.
3. Packing & Preparation
If you are packed and ready, we begin loading immediately. If not, we can help with partial packing on the day, using our own materials for an additional charge. We bring blankets, straps and basic protective covers as standard to safeguard your furniture and appliances.
4. Loading & Transport
Our trained team will carefully load your belongings, securing items with straps and blankets to minimise movement in transit. We plan our route around Islington and beyond using local knowledge to avoid unnecessary delays, always transporting your goods under our goods in transit insurance.
5. Unloading & Placement
On arrival, we unload items into the rooms you specify, placing furniture where practical and assembling any furniture we dismantled, if agreed in advance. We work efficiently but never rush handling of fragile or awkward pieces, helping you get functional quickly at the new property.
Transparent Pricing
Same day removals in Islington are priced clearly and fairly. We typically offer:
- Hourly rates for smaller or flexible jobs
- Fixed prices for defined moves with clear inventories and access
Our quote will reflect:
- Size of vehicle and number of movers needed
- Distance between addresses
- Access challenges (stairs, no lift, long carries, parking issues)
- Any extra services such as packing or furniture dismantling
There are no hidden extras: any potential charges for congestion zones, parking or waiting times are explained in advance wherever they can be anticipated. For urgent, late‑night or long‑distance same day requests, rates may be higher due to overtime and scheduling pressures; we will always confirm these before you commit.
Why Choose Professional Same Day Removals Over DIY
Trying to organise a same day move yourself can be stressful and risky. Hiring a van at the last minute, finding friends to lift, and navigating Islington traffic and parking rules often leads to delays, damage and unexpected costs.
With Man and Van Islington you get:
- A professional, experienced team used to working under time pressure
- Proper equipment – trolleys, blankets, straps and covers
- Efficient loading to maximise space and minimise trips
- Reduced risk of damage to property, belongings and buildings
- Protection through insurance and formal procedures
This means you can focus on keys, paperwork and utilities instead of worrying about how to get your sofa down three flights of stairs.
Insurance & Professional Standards
As a responsible removals company, we operate with clear protections and standards:
- Goods in transit insurance covering your belongings while they are in our vehicles (within policy limits and terms)
- Public liability cover for accidental damage to third‑party property or injury caused by our work
- Trained moving teams who are briefed on safe lifting, packing methods and customer care
We provide written confirmations of your booking and can share policy details on request. Same day does not mean cutting corners: we follow the same standards as for a planned move, simply adapted to a tighter timeframe.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
Even when time is short, we place strong emphasis on caring for both your belongings and the environment:
- Use of reusable moving blankets and protective equipment rather than excessive single‑use materials
- Encouraging customers to reuse and recycle boxes where appropriate
- Route planning to minimise unnecessary mileage and emissions
- Considerate behaviour in communal areas and shared buildings around Islington
We treat each property and item as if it were our own, ensuring walls, floors and doorways are protected as far as reasonably possible, particularly in narrow Islington stairwells and communal corridors.
Real‑World Same Day Removals Use Cases
Emergency House Move
A family in Islington facing an unexpected completion date change needed to vacate their terraced house the same afternoon. We provided a two‑vehicle, four‑person team, carried out a rapid survey by video and completed the full move across North London within the day.
Office Relocation at Short Notice
A small creative agency in Angel lost access to their leased space earlier than planned. We moved workstations, computers and boxed files into a new serviced office, labelled items by team, and had them operational again by the next morning.
Student Flat Clearance
Two students needed to clear a shared flat before end‑of‑tenancy inspections. We collected boxed belongings, a few pieces of furniture and bikes, delivering part to a new address and part to storage, all within the same day.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do same day removals in Islington cost?
Costs depend on the size of your move, access, distance and how quickly you need us. Smaller same day moves within Islington are usually charged at an hourly rate, with a minimum booking period. Larger or more complex jobs may be priced as a fixed quote after a quick survey. Factors such as stairs, lack of parking, late‑night work or additional packing will affect the price. We will always provide a clear breakdown before you confirm so you know exactly what you are paying for.
Can you always offer same day or urgent availability?
We prioritise same day enquiries, but availability depends on existing bookings, team capacity and the time of day you contact us. Early morning calls give the best chance of securing a same day slot. If we are fully booked, we may offer an alternative time later the same day or first thing the following morning. We never over‑promise; if we cannot meet your deadline reliably, we will say so upfront and, where possible, suggest practical alternatives.
Are my belongings insured during a same day removal?
Yes. Your items are covered by our goods in transit insurance while they are in our vehicles, within the limits and conditions of our policy. We also hold public liability cover for accidental damage to property or injury caused by our work. Normal exclusions apply (such as cash, jewellery or high‑value artwork) unless agreed in writing beforehand. We are happy to explain the cover in detail and advise whether you should supplement it with your own contents or specialist insurance for particularly valuable items.
What is included in your same day removals service?
Our service includes the vehicle, fuel, trained movers, protective blankets, basic covers and secure transport between addresses. Loading and unloading into designated rooms are standard. We can also offer optional extras such as packing, supply of boxes, dismantling and reassembly of furniture, or multiple drop‑offs, which may affect the price. Parking costs, congestion or clean air zone charges are either included in your quote or clearly itemised where they apply, so there are no surprises on the day.
How is your service different from a casual man-and-van?
While the term sounds similar, our approach is that of a professional removals company rather than an informal transport service. We use purpose‑equipped vehicles, provide written confirmations, hold full insurance, and employ trained staff experienced in handling furniture and navigating Islington’s buildings. We plan the move, protect your belongings, and accept responsibility for the work carried out. Casual services may be cheaper initially but can lack accountability, proper protection and reliability, which is especially risky on urgent, time‑critical moves.
How far in advance should I book, and can I reserve a time?
For same day removals, contact us as early as you can – ideally before midday – to maximise the chance of securing your preferred slot. For planned moves, we recommend booking one to three weeks in advance, particularly at month‑end or during peak periods. When we confirm your booking, we agree either an arrival window or a specific time, depending on access and logistics. We always communicate clearly on the day if traffic or unexpected factors affect our arrival, keeping you updated throughout.

- Collection and delivery from one or multiple addresses
- Experienced movers and a suitably sized vehicle
- Protective blankets, straps and equipment
- Careful loading and unloading
- Furniture protection and basic disassembly/reassembly where agreed
- Placement of items in the correct rooms at your new property
- Goods in transit insurance for your belongings

- Illegal items or contraband of any kind
- Live animals (including pets and livestock)
- Perishable or frozen food for long-distance moves
- Unsecured valuables such as cash, jewellery or important documents (we recommend you carry these personally)
- Very large specialist items without prior arrangement (e.g. grand pianos, safes, hot tubs)
If you are unsure about a particular item, we will advise during the survey so there are no surprises on moving day.
Our Step-by-Step House Removals Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
You contact us with your move details – addresses, property types, dates and any special requirements. We provide a clear, no-obligation estimate based on the size and complexity of your move. For straightforward smaller moves, we can often quote from your list of items and photos.
2. Survey (Virtual or Onsite)
For larger or more complex moves, we arrange a free survey. This can be done via video call or an onsite visit in Islington. We assess access, parking, volume of goods and any delicate items. This allows us to allocate the right vehicle, crew and time, and to confirm your fixed-price quotation.
3. Packing & Preparation
We offer flexible options: you can pack yourself, or we can provide a full or partial packing service. If we pack, our team uses quality boxes, wrapping and tape to protect your belongings. We can also dismantle beds, wardrobes and other large furniture where required and agreed in advance.
4. Loading & Transport
On move day, we arrive on time, protect floors and banisters as needed, and systematically load your belongings. Everything is secured in the vehicle using blankets and straps to prevent movement in transit. We then transport your goods directly to your new address, using routes that avoid unnecessary delays where possible.
5. Unloading & Placement
At your new property, we unload into the rooms you specify, placing furniture where you want it. If agreed beforehand, we reassemble furniture and reconnect simple appliances. We complete a final walkthrough with you to ensure everything that should be moved has been delivered and placed correctly.
Transparent Pricing for House Removals
We price each move fairly based on:
- Property size and volume of belongings
- Access and distance between addresses
- Number of movers and vehicles required
- Services required – packing, materials, disassembly/reassembly, storage
- Timing – weekday, weekend or out-of-hours moves
Smaller moves may be priced on an hourly rate, while larger house moves are usually quoted at a fixed price. We always explain what is included and any potential additional charges (such as extended waiting time for keys) before you confirm your booking, so your costs are clear.
Why Choose Professional Removals Over DIY or Casual Man-and-Van?
While hiring a van and asking friends can seem cheaper, in reality it often leads to damage, delays and a far more stressful day. With a professional removal team you benefit from:
- Experienced, trained movers who know how to handle heavy or fragile items safely
- Proper equipment and vehicles designed for removals
- Planned loading so everything fits and is protected
- Goods in transit insurance that typical DIY moves do not have
- Reduced risk of personal injury from lifting or carrying
- Reliable timing, which is crucial when dealing with keys, landlords and completion deadlines
We also differ from casual man-and-van operators by providing confirmed bookings, written quotes, clear terms and fully insured services.
Insurance and Professional Standards
Man and Van Islington operates to recognised industry standards, giving you confidence that your move is properly protected.
- Goods in transit insurance – covers your belongings while they are being moved in our vehicles, subject to our terms and conditions.
- Public liability cover – protects against accidental damage or injury to third parties or property during the move.
- Trained moving teams – our staff are experienced in safe lifting, packing techniques and handling delicate or bulky items.
We are happy to provide details of our insurance and answer any questions you may have before you book.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We take the care of your belongings and the impact of our work seriously. On every move we use clean blankets, floor coverings and protective wrapping to minimise the risk of dents, scratches and marks. Heavy items are moved with trolleys and lifting aids where possible, reducing strain and improving safety.
From a sustainability perspective, we aim to reuse durable packing materials, offer return-and-reuse options for boxes where practical, and plan efficient routes to reduce unnecessary mileage. We also encourage customers to declutter responsibly before moving, and can recommend local charities and recycling options in Islington.
Real-World Use Cases
Moving House Within Islington
Many of our customers are moving just a mile or two – for example, from a flat in Angel to a house in Highbury. We plan these moves with tight access and parking in mind, often arranging early starts to avoid the busiest times on local roads.
Relocating Out of London
If you are moving from Islington to elsewhere in the UK, we provide a complete, door-to-door service. We can coordinate collection the day before and delivery the following morning, or same-day long-distance moves depending on distance and volume.
Office and Home-Office Moves
For small offices and home workers, we move desks, filing cabinets, stock and IT equipment carefully to minimise downtime. Moves can be scheduled for evenings or weekends to keep disruption low.
Urgent and Short-Notice Moves
Life does not always give much warning. Where availability allows, we can accommodate same-day or short-notice removals in Islington, particularly for smaller properties or part-load moves. Contact us as soon as possible and we will advise honestly what we can do.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a house removal in Islington cost?
The cost depends on the size of your property, the volume of items, access at each address and the distance travelled. Smaller flat moves within Islington may be charged at an hourly rate, while larger house moves are usually quoted at a fixed price after a survey. Additional services such as packing, materials and storage will affect the overall cost. Once we have your details, we provide a clear written quotation outlining exactly what is included so you can budget with confidence.
Can you handle same-day or urgent removals?
We can often help with same-day or urgent moves, especially for smaller properties and partial loads, but it depends on our existing bookings and crew availability. If you need to move at short notice, contact us as early in the day as possible with full details of your requirements. We will be honest about what we can realistically achieve and may offer flexible options, such as moving essentials immediately and scheduling the remainder for the next available slot.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Yes. We provide goods in transit insurance for items we are moving, and we also carry public liability insurance. This means you are protected in the unlikely event of loss or damage caused by us, subject to our terms and conditions. Some items, such as high-value jewellery, cash and certain fragile goods, may be excluded or require special packing. We are happy to explain the cover in detail and advise you on the best way to protect particularly valuable or delicate belongings.
What is included in your house removals service?
Our standard service includes a suitable vehicle, professional movers, loading and unloading, transit between addresses and basic protection for your furniture. We place items into the rooms you specify at your new property and can handle straightforward disassembly and reassembly where agreed. Optional extras include full or partial packing, supply of boxes and materials, disposal of unwanted items and short- or long-term storage. We tailor the exact package to your needs so you only pay for the services you actually require.
How is your removals service different from a basic man-and-van?
A casual man-and-van typically offers transport and lifting only, often without formal training, insurance or written terms. Our service is a structured, fully insured removals operation with trained teams, proper planning, surveys for larger jobs and dedicated customer support. We use appropriate equipment, protect your furniture and property, and work to agreed arrival times and schedules. For small, simple moves we can provide a man-and-van style service, but always to professional standards and with the same level of care and accountability.
How far in advance should I book my removal?
For most moves, we recommend booking at least two to three weeks in advance, especially if you plan to move on a Friday or at month end, when demand is highest. That said, we regularly accommodate moves at shorter notice where our schedule allows. If your completion date is not yet fixed, we can discuss provisional dates and options. The earlier you contact us, the more choice of dates and times you will have, and the easier it is for us to plan your move efficiently.

Our Step-by-Step Student Removals Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
Contact us by phone, email or online form with your dates, addresses, and a rough list of items. We will provide a clear, no-obligation quote, explaining what is included and any options to keep costs down, such as flexible scheduling or shared loads.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For most student moves, a quick virtual survey (via photos or video call) is enough. For larger moves with furniture, we may visit in person. This ensures we send the right size van, the right number of movers, and can plan access, parking and timings.
3. Packing & Preparation
You can pack your own belongings, or we can provide a professional packing service. If you pack yourself, we’ll advise on box sizes, labelling and protecting delicate items. On moving day we bring blankets, straps and basic protection for furniture and electronics.
4. Loading & Transport
Our professional, trained team carefully loads your items, working efficiently while protecting walls, stairwells and communal areas. Everything is secured properly in the van before we set off. We use well-maintained vehicles and route planning to minimise delays.
5. Unloading & Placement
At your new address, we unload and place furniture and boxes into the rooms you specify, as far as access allows. We can assemble basic furniture on request and will always try to position items so you can settle in quickly.
Transparent, Fair Pricing
We know students and families need clear, predictable costs. Our pricing is based on:
- Volume of items and van size required
- Number of movers needed
- Distance between properties
- Access issues (stairs only, long carries, parking restrictions)
- Optional extras such as packing or storage drops
We provide a written quote before you book, with all charges explained. There are no hidden fees for things like fuel or congestion where these have been discussed in advance. For small loads, we can often offer cost-effective hourly rates; for larger moves, we usually agree a fixed price.
Why Choose Professional Removals Over DIY
Using a professional removals company like Man and Van Islington provides clear advantages over hiring a van yourself or relying on friends:
- Trained movers who know how to lift safely and protect your belongings
- Time-saving – we load and unload far quicker than an untrained team
- Goods in transit insurance if the unexpected happens
- Appropriate trolleys, straps and blankets to prevent damage
- Reliable, punctual service – no last-minute cancellations
- No need to drive an unfamiliar vehicle around busy London streets
A casual man-and-van may appear cheaper, but often lacks proper insurance, training and reliability. We offer the flexibility of a man-and-van with the standards of a professional removals firm.
Insurance & Professional Standards
Your belongings are important, both financially and emotionally. We back up our service with:
- Goods in transit insurance covering your possessions while we are moving them
- Public liability cover to protect you and third parties during the move
- Trained, uniformed staff experienced in handling student moves
- Regularly maintained vehicles and appropriate moving equipment
Details of cover levels are available on request, and we are happy to explain how they apply to your particular move.
Local Expertise in Islington
Operating daily in Islington, we know the area’s postcodes, estates and major student accommodation sites well. This local knowledge helps us to:
- Plan routes to avoid traffic and delays
- Understand local parking and loading restrictions
- Work efficiently in narrow streets and busy areas
- Coordinate with building receptions or halls management where needed
Our familiarity with Islington’s student properties and transport links makes the whole process smoother for you.
Care, Protection & Sustainability
We take care to protect both your belongings and the properties we work in. Furniture is wrapped or covered as needed, and we use corner protectors and careful handling in communal areas. We work tidily, removing any packing materials we have supplied.
We are also conscious of sustainability. Where possible we reuse packing materials, offer the collection of reusable boxes, and plan routes to minimise unnecessary mileage. If you have items you no longer need, we can often deliver them to local charity shops or recycling points by prior arrangement.
Real-World Student Removal Scenarios
- Moving into halls: A small van and one or two movers to transport suitcases, boxes, a bike and a few pieces of furniture from home to Islington.
- House share changeover: Moving from one shared flat to another, with furniture, kitchenware and electronics, all packed and moved in a single day.
- End-of-term move: Collecting belongings from halls, delivering some items home and others to storage.
- Urgent relocation: Short-notice move due to a tenancy change or issues with existing accommodation, handled quickly and discreetly.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do student removals in Islington cost?
The cost depends on how much you are moving, the distance involved and access at each property. A small student move within Islington can often be handled with a smaller van and one or two movers, which keeps costs down. Larger moves with furniture or multiple pick-up and drop-off points will cost more. We are happy to work to student budgets and suggest ways to save money, such as off-peak times or shared loads. We always provide a clear quote before you commit.
Can you do same-day or urgent student moves?
We can often accommodate same-day or short-notice moves, particularly outside the busiest weekends and peak moving periods. If your plans have changed unexpectedly, contact us as soon as possible with your details and preferred time. We’ll check our schedule and be upfront about what we can realistically achieve. Even when we can’t offer your exact time, we may be able to provide an alternative slot or partial solution, such as storing items temporarily or splitting the move into two runs.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Yes. Your belongings are covered by our goods in transit insurance while they are in our care and being transported. We also carry public liability cover, which protects you and others in case of accidental damage to property or injury related to our work. Insurance has sensible conditions, so we’ll explain what is and isn’t covered, and any steps you should take, such as properly closing boxes and identifying particularly fragile or high-value items. If you need higher-value cover, we can discuss options before you book.
What’s included in a typical student removals service?
A standard student removal includes provision of the van, a professional moving team, loading your belongings, secure transport and unloading at your new address. We use protective blankets and handling equipment, and place items into the correct rooms where access allows. Optional extras include packing materials, a full packing service, furniture disassembly and reassembly, and additional stops such as storage or charity shops. Everything that is included will be clearly listed in your quote so you know exactly what to expect on the day.
How is your service different from a basic man-and-van?
While we offer the flexibility of a man-and-van, we operate to the standards of a removals company. That means trained staff, proper insurance, planned routes, written quotations and clear communication. A casual man-and-van may not be fully insured, may use inadequate equipment, or may cancel at short notice. We provide reliable timings, appropriate vehicles, and a structured process designed to protect both your belongings and the properties we work in. For many students and parents, that added peace of mind is worth the small difference in price.
How far in advance should I book?
For peak periods such as the start and end of university terms, we recommend booking as early as possible – ideally 2–4 weeks in advance – to secure your preferred date and time. For smaller, local moves outside of busy weekends, we can often arrange moves with only a few days’ notice, and sometimes even the same day. The more notice you can give us, the more options we can offer on timing and price. However, it is always worth asking, even at short notice.
Flat Removals
Flat Removals Islington – Man and Van Islington
Moving in or out of a flat in Islington comes with its own challenges: tight stairwells, limited parking, lift restrictions and strict building rules. At Man and Van Islington, our flat removals service is specifically designed around these realities, keeping your move orderly, efficient and well protected from start to finish.
Specialist Flat Removals in Islington
We carry out flat moves across Islington every day – from period conversions in Canonbury and Barnsbury to new-build apartments around Angel and Highbury. We understand local parking rules, congestion, access arrangements and building management requirements, so we plan your move around them rather than battle against them.
Whether you’re moving a studio, a one-bedroom flat or a larger multi-floor apartment, we provide the right size vehicle, the right number of movers and the right equipment to keep everything safe and on schedule.
Who Our Flat Removals Service Is For
Our Islington flat removals are tailored to:
- Homeowners moving between flats or into a new house, needing a professional, fully managed move.
- Renters coming to the end of a tenancy who must leave the property clean and undamaged.
- Landlords arranging moves for tenants, refurbishments or clearance ready for new occupants.
- Businesses relocating staff into or out of Islington apartments, or moving from live-work flats.
- Students moving into halls or shared flats who want an affordable, reliable service without hassle.
What’s Included in Our Flat Removals
Every move is different, but as standard our service can include:
- Furniture moving – beds, wardrobes, sofas, tables, desks, drawers, bookcases and more.
- Appliances – washing machines, fridges, freezers and small kitchen appliances (disconnected and ready to move).
- Boxes and personal items – clothes, books, kitchenware, ornaments, files and documents.
- Electronics – TVs, computers, monitors, sound systems and gaming equipment, carefully padded and secured.
- Disassembly and reassembly of basic flat-pack furniture where required and agreed in advance.
- Protective materials – blankets, straps and covers as standard to protect furniture and property.
Items We Typically Cannot Move
To keep everyone safe and insured, some items are excluded or require prior agreement:
- Hazardous materials – fuel, gas cylinders, chemicals, paint thinners, fireworks.
- Perishable or open food and strong-smelling items.
- Illegal items or anything that breaches building rules.
- Very high-value items (artwork, jewellery, collections) unless declared and appropriately covered.
- Heavy commercial machinery or industrial equipment not suited to residential buildings.
If you’re unsure about a specific item, we’ll advise during your enquiry or survey.
Our Step-by-Step Flat Removals Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
You contact us with your addresses, flat details, access information, list of main items and preferred dates. We provide a clear, no-obligation quote based on the volume, access, distance and any extra services like packing or dismantling. We keep our pricing transparent so you know exactly what’s included before you book.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For anything more than a very small move, we recommend a brief survey. This can be a video call walk-through or, where needed, an onsite visit. We assess access (stairs, lifts, parking), the volume to be moved, any fragile or awkward items and building rules. This lets us plan the right crew, vehicle and timing, greatly reducing the risk of delays on the day.
3. Packing & Preparation
We offer two approaches:
- Full or partial packing service – our trained team brings quality packing materials and safely packs your belongings room by room.
- Self-packing – you pack your own boxes, and we supply materials on request and guidance on best practice for safe transit.
We label boxes clearly, protect fragile items and prepare furniture with covers and wraps as required.
4. Loading & Transport
On moving day, our professional crew arrives on time in a clean, well-equipped vehicle. We protect communal areas as required (lifts, corridors, entranceways) and follow building rules regarding access and noise. Items are carefully carried, loaded and securely strapped in the van to prevent movement in transit. Your goods are covered by our goods in transit insurance while on the road.
5. Unloading & Placement
At your new flat, we unload systematically, placing items into the rooms you specify. Furniture that we dismantled is reassembled where agreed, and we position larger items so you can settle in more quickly. Before we leave, we check that nothing has been missed and that you’re happy with the placement and condition of your belongings.
Transparent Flat Removals Pricing
We believe in straightforward, honest pricing. Our flat removal quotes are based on:
- Property size and volume of items.
- Access complexity – stairs only, lifts, long walks, restricted parking.
- Travel distance between properties.
- Number of movers required and time expected.
- Additional services – packing, dismantling, storage.
We’ll explain your options clearly so you can choose what suits your budget and timescale. There are no hidden extras – any potential additional charges (such as congestion or parking fees) are discussed in advance wherever possible.
Why Choose Professional Flat Removals Over DIY
Moving yourself or using a casual man-with-a-van might seem cheaper at first, but it often comes with hidden costs: damage to belongings or property, parking fines, injuries from lifting and moves that overrun into multiple trips.
With Man and Van Islington you get:
- A trained team who know how to handle heavy and fragile items safely.
- Efficient loading and unloading, usually in a single trip.
- Fully insured cover for your goods in transit and our work on-site.
- Proper equipment – trolleys, blankets, straps and tools for dismantling.
- Experienced planning for Islington traffic, parking and building restrictions.
In practice, a well-planned professional move saves time, reduces stress and significantly lowers the risk of costly damage.
Insurance & Professional Standards
We take our responsibilities seriously and work to recognised professional standards. Our service includes:
- Goods in transit insurance to protect your belongings while they’re being transported.
- Public liability cover for work in and around your property and communal areas.
- Trained moving teams who understand safe lifting, packing and handling techniques.
We’ll talk you through what is and isn’t covered, and if you have specific high-value items we can discuss additional protection or special packing methods to suit.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
Flat moves often involve tight spaces, lifts and shared corridors. We take extra care to protect:
- Your belongings – with padded covers, wraps and careful packing.
- Your property – using floor and door protection where needed.
- Communal areas – following building guidelines and leaving spaces clean and tidy.
We also work towards more sustainable practices by reusing sturdy packing materials when appropriate, offering crate options where possible and planning efficient routes to reduce unnecessary mileage.
Real-World Flat Removal Scenarios
- Moving between Islington flats – for example, from a top-floor walk-up to a lift-access new build, with careful coordination of parking and lift booking.
- House to flat downsizing – sorting and moving a selected portion of belongings into a smaller, well-organised space.
- Office or live-work relocations – moving workstations, files and furniture into or out of mixed-use flats.
- Urgent or short-notice moves – tenancy changes, relationship breakdowns or landlord requirements where time is tight but care is still essential.
Whatever your situation, we aim to provide a calm, methodical move that lets you focus on settling in rather than worrying about the logistics.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do flat removals in Islington cost?
Costs vary depending on the size of your flat, the volume of items, access difficulties and the distance between addresses. A small local studio move may be completed in a few hours with a small team, while a larger furnished flat can take longer and require more movers. We provide clear, tailored quotes after discussing your move in detail or carrying out a quick survey. This ensures you only pay for the resources you actually need, with no surprise extras on the day.
Can you handle same-day or urgent flat moves?
We do our best to accommodate same-day or urgent moves in Islington, especially for smaller flats or partial moves. Availability depends on our schedule and the size and complexity of your move. If you’re working to a tight deadline, contact us as early as possible and let us know your situation. We’ll check our diary, explain what’s realistically achievable and, if we can help, organise a streamlined service that focuses on the essentials to get you moved safely and on time.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Yes. Your belongings are covered by our goods in transit insurance while they’re being transported in our vehicles. We also carry public liability cover for work in and around your property. There are reasonable conditions and exclusions, for example relating to undeclared high-value items or goods you’ve packed yourself in unsuitable containers. We’ll explain the cover in plain language before you book, so you can decide whether you need any additional protection or specialist packing for particular items.
What’s included in your flat removals service?
Our standard service includes a trained removals team, the right size vehicle, loading, transport and unloading into the rooms of your choice. We provide protective blankets and equipment as standard, and we can add services such as packing, unpacking, furniture dismantling and reassembly if requested. We also offer advice on parking, building access and preparation. The exact package is tailored to your needs and clearly set out in your quote, so you know exactly what we’ll be doing on moving day.
How is a professional removal different from a basic man-and-van?
A casual man-and-van is usually just a driver with limited equipment and no formal insurance or training. Our service is a structured, professional removal operation with trained staff, planning, protective kit and full insurance in place. We survey your flat, plan access, allocate the right team and vehicle, and manage the whole process from start to finish. This reduces the risk of damage, delays and disputes, and generally results in a smoother, less stressful move, especially in busy areas like Islington.
How far in advance should I book my flat removal?
For most Islington flat moves, we recommend booking at least two to three weeks in advance, particularly if you’re moving at the end of the month or on a weekend. This gives us time to arrange parking suspensions if needed and to coordinate any packing or dismantling. However, we do regularly handle short-notice moves. If your dates are not fixed yet, we can provide a provisional quote and hold a slot where possible, then confirm once your completion or tenancy dates are finalised.

Our Step-by-Step Removals Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
Contact us by phone, email or form with your dates, addresses and a rough list of what you need to move. We will ask a few questions about access (stairs, lifts, parking) and any heavy or fragile items. Based on that, we provide a clear, no-obligation quote and recommend the right size van and number of movers.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For many man with van jobs, a quick virtual survey via video call or photos is enough. For more complex moves, we can arrange an onsite visit in Islington. The survey allows us to assess volume, access and any special handling needs, avoiding surprises on the day and ensuring we send the right team and equipment.
3. Packing & Preparation
You can pack your own boxes, or we can offer packing as an additional service. If you pack yourself, we will advise on box sizes, labelling and protecting fragile items. On the day, we bring blankets and protection for furniture, and we can dismantle and reassemble straightforward items such as bed frames and tables if agreed in advance.
4. Loading & Transport
Our professional team loads the van systematically, securing everything with straps and using protective materials to reduce movement. We handle stairs and tight corners safely, using proper lifting techniques and equipment. Once loaded, we transport your goods directly to the destination, choosing sensible routes and driving calmly to protect your belongings.
5. Unloading & Placement
At the new address, we unload and place items into the rooms you specify, not just at the front door. We reassemble any agreed furniture and position larger pieces so you can start settling in straight away. Before leaving, we invite you to walk through and check that everything is where it should be and in the expected condition.
Transparent Pricing – How Our Man with Van Rates Work
We keep pricing clear and straightforward. Most man with van moves are charged on an hourly basis with a minimum booking time. The hourly rate depends on:
- Number of movers (one, two or more)
- Size of van required
- Day and time (weekdays, evenings, weekends)
- Distance between addresses
For some jobs – for example, small flat moves within Islington – we can provide a fixed price once we know the details. Your quote will explain what is included (movers, van, fuel, basic protective materials) and any possible extra charges (parking fees, congestion/ULEZ where applicable, extra time if significantly over-run). There are no hidden extras.
Why Choose Professional Movers Over DIY or Casual Man-and-Van
Hiring a friend with a van or doing it yourself may seem cheaper but often ends up more stressful, slower and riskier. A professional man with van service brings:
- Trained movers who know how to lift, carry and protect goods properly
- Correct equipment – trolleys, blankets, straps and tools
- Efficient loading to maximise space and minimise trips
- Fully insured cover for your belongings and third-party property
- Accountability – confirmed bookings, arrival times and written terms
For many customers, avoiding injury, damage and last-minute cancellations is worth far more than the small saving a purely casual option might offer.
Insurance and Professional Standards
We take responsibility for your belongings seriously. Our service includes:
- Goods in transit insurance – protecting your items while they are in our vehicle, subject to policy terms and packing standards.
- Public liability cover – for accidental damage to property or injury involving third parties during the move.
- Trained moving teams – our staff are briefed on manual handling, safe loading, and customer care.
We provide clear terms and conditions on booking, outlining your cover and any reasonable exclusions, so you know exactly where you stand.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We treat your possessions with the same care we would our own. Furniture is wrapped or covered with blankets, fragile items are handled carefully, and we plan the load so nothing is crushed or unsecured. We aim to keep damage risk as low as possible through preparation rather than promises.
We also work to minimise our environmental impact. We consolidate trips where practical, maintain our vehicles for fuel efficiency, and re-use protective materials and cartons wherever hygiene and safety allow. Where possible, we can collect used packing materials for responsible re-use or recycling.
Real-World Use Cases in Islington
- Moving house or flat – one- or two-bedroom moves within Islington or to nearby areas, often completed in a single day with two movers and a Luton van.
- Office relocation – moving small teams, desks, chairs and IT equipment between shared workspaces, with careful handling of electronics and documents.
- Urgent and same-day moves – last-minute tenancy changes, landlord requests, or unexpected change of plans. Where our schedule allows, we can react quickly to short-notice requirements.
- Store collections – collecting furniture or appliances from retailers and delivering them straight into your property, with help to position and assemble basic items.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a man with van service in Islington cost?
Costs depend mainly on the size of van, number of movers and total time required. Most local Islington jobs are charged hourly with a minimum booking period. For example, a smaller move with one mover and a medium van will be cheaper per hour than a two-person Luton van team. Distance between addresses, stairs, awkward access and special items can also affect the total time. We are happy to give a clear, written quote in advance once we know your details, so you can budget with confidence.
Can you provide same-day or urgent man with van bookings?
Yes, we can often accommodate same-day or urgent moves in Islington, especially for smaller loads, single items or short-distance relocations. Availability depends on our existing schedule and the size of team and vehicle your job requires. Contact us as early as you can, provide full details and we will let you know what is realistic. Where we cannot meet your exact time, we will suggest the closest alternative. We always prioritise confirmed bookings but keep some flexibility for urgent local requests.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Yes. We provide goods in transit insurance for items we carry in our vehicles, subject to policy limits, and public liability cover for damage to third-party property or injury related to our work. To ensure cover is valid, items must be appropriately packed and declared, and we may ask for extra details about particularly fragile or high-value goods. We will explain the key terms when you book, and you are always welcome to ask if you need higher-value cover or clarification about what is and is not included.
What is included in your man with van service?
Our standard service includes a suitable van, one or more professional movers, fuel for local travel, protective blankets, straps and basic tools for straightforward furniture disassembly. We load, transport and unload items into the rooms you specify. Packing, specialist dismantling, disposal and long-distance travel may be added at extra cost if needed. Parking fees, congestion and ULEZ charges are usually chargeable where they apply, and will be outlined in your quote. We aim to be clear about everything that is included before you confirm your booking.
What is the difference between your service and a casual man-and-van?
A casual man-and-van is often just a driver with a vehicle, working informally, sometimes without adequate insurance or training. Our service is a structured, fully insured removals operation with trained staff, proper equipment, and clear terms. We survey in advance, allocate the right team, arrive at the agreed time and handle your belongings with professional care. If something unexpected happens, there is a process and insurance in place. Many customers value that reliability and accountability more than the small saving a completely informal service might offer.
How far in advance should I book?
For weekends, month-end dates and peak moving periods, we recommend booking your man with van in Islington at least one to two weeks ahead. For weekday or off-peak moves, a few days’ notice is often enough, though more time gives us greater flexibility on start times. Short-notice and same-day requests are welcome and we will do our best to help, but they are always subject to availability. Once you know your moving date, it is wise to secure your slot so you can plan packing and key handovers around a confirmed schedule.
Piano Removals
Piano Removals in Islington by Man and Van Islington
Moving a piano safely takes more than strength – it needs experience, planning and the right equipment. At Man and Van Islington we provide specialist piano removals throughout Islington and the surrounding areas, handling every move with care and precision.
Specialist Piano Moving in Islington
Pianos are heavy, delicate and often highly valuable – both financially and emotionally. Our team has years of hands-on experience moving upright pianos, grands and digital pianos in and out of typical Islington properties, from basement flats and Victorian terraces to modern apartments and offices.
We use purpose-made piano skates, padded covers, straps and protective floor coverings to keep your instrument and your property safe. Every move is planned around the size of the piano, access in both locations and parking restrictions across Islington.
Who Our Piano Removal Service Is For
Our dedicated piano removals service is designed for:
- Homeowners upgrading, downsizing or moving house with a treasured piano
- Renters moving between flats where lifts, stairs and tight hallways need expert handling
- Landlords needing pianos removed, relocated or placed into storage between tenancies
- Businesses including schools, studios, rehearsal spaces, venues and churches
- Students at music colleges and universities who need reliable, budget-conscious help
Whether you are moving a single piano within the same building, across Islington or to another part of London, we can tailor the service to your needs.
What Our Piano Removals Service Includes
Items and Services Typically Included
- Upright piano removals (standard and overstrung uprights)
- Baby grand and grand piano removals (with partial disassembly where required)
- Digital and electric pianos, including stage pianos and keyboards on stands
- All moving equipment – trolleys, skates, protective covers, straps
- Protection of floors, bannisters and doorways
- Careful loading, secure transport and unloading
- Placement of the piano in your chosen room and position
What Is Not Included as Standard
- Piano tuning or repairs after the move (we can recommend local tuners on request)
- Long-term storage (we can help arrange this via trusted partners)
- Removal of non-piano bulky items unless agreed in advance
- Specialist hoisting through windows, or crane lifts, where normal access is impossible – these can sometimes be arranged at additional cost following a detailed survey
If you are unsure whether your piano or access is suitable, we can usually advise from photos or a short video during the survey stage.
Our Step-by-Step Piano Removals Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
Contact Man and Van Islington by phone or online and tell us about your piano and addresses. We will ask for make/model (if known), whether it is an upright or grand, the number of steps at each property, lift access, parking restrictions and your preferred dates. Based on this, we provide a clear, no-obligation quote, usually the same day.
2. Survey (Virtual or Onsite)
For many piano moves, a virtual survey via video call or photos is sufficient. For more complex jobs – for example, large grands or tight staircases – we may recommend an onsite survey in Islington. This allows us to measure access, plan the safest route and confirm whether any partial dismantling or extra crew members are needed.
3. Packing & Preparation
On moving day, our trained team arrives on time with all the equipment required. We protect floors and walls where needed, then wrap the piano in padded covers and secure moving blankets. For grand pianos, legs and pedals may be removed and the piano placed on a specialist skid or dolly, ensuring weight is evenly distributed and the instrument is fully protected.
4. Loading & Transport
Your piano is carefully manoeuvred out of the property using skates, trolleys and team coordination – no dragging or forced turns. Once at the vehicle, we use a tail lift or ramps to load safely. Inside the van, the piano is strapped securely to prevent movement in transit. Our vehicles are purpose-equipped and covered by comprehensive goods in transit insurance.
5. Unloading & Placement
On arrival, we repeat the same controlled process in reverse. We bring the piano into your new property, position it in your chosen room and carry out final checks for stability and condition. We are happy to help make small adjustments to placement so you are satisfied with the final location.
Transparent Pricing for Piano Removals in Islington
We know customers value clear pricing. Our piano removal quotes are based on:
- Type and size of piano (upright, baby grand, grand, digital)
- Distance between addresses
- Floor level, stairs and access complexity at both properties
- Parking arrangements and any permit or congestion charges
- Number of staff and any additional equipment required
You will receive a written quote outlining what is included so there are no hidden surprises on the day. For simple ground-floor upright moves within Islington, costs are often lower than people expect, while complex multi-storey moves are priced to reflect the extra time and manpower needed.
Why Choose Professional Piano Removals Over DIY
Attempting to move a piano yourself or with a casual man-and-van can be risky. Pianos can weigh several hundred kilos, and a small mistake can cause serious damage to the instrument, your property or those helping.
Choosing a specialist, professional service means:
- Experienced teams who understand piano balance points and structural weak spots
- Correct equipment to handle weight safely and avoid injury
- Proper protection to prevent scratches, dents and damage to floors or walls
- Insurance-backed moves, giving financial protection if something unexpected happens
- Efficient planning that often saves time, stress and overall cost compared with DIY
In short, professional piano removals protect your instrument, your property and your peace of mind.
Insurance and Professional Standards
Man and Van Islington operates to high professional standards throughout every move.
- Goods in transit insurance – cover for your piano while it is being transported in our vehicle.
- Public liability cover – protection in the unlikely event of accidental damage to third-party property or injury caused by our work.
- Trained moving teams – our staff are experienced, briefed on each job and follow safe handling procedures specific to pianos.
Policy details and limits are available on request; we are always happy to talk through what is covered so you can book with confidence.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We treat every piano as if it were our own. That means careful route planning, proper lifting techniques and meticulous use of protective materials. Where possible, we use reusable padded covers, blankets and floor protectors to reduce waste.
Our vehicles are maintained for efficiency, and we plan routes across Islington to minimise unnecessary mileage. Where packaging is needed, we aim to use recyclable materials and encourage customers to reuse or recycle them after the move.
Real-World Piano Removal Use Cases
Moving House with a Piano
Many customers in Islington are moving home and want their piano handled separately from general furniture. We can coordinate with your main removals day or carry out a dedicated piano move beforehand for added peace of mind.
Office, School and Studio Relocations
We regularly move pianos for schools, rehearsal studios, churches and workplaces. This often involves navigating corridors, lifts, tight stairwells and out-of-hours access. We work around your timetable to minimise disruption.
Urgent or Short-Notice Moves
Sometimes you need a piano moved quickly – for a property completion date, renovation work or a new tenant. Subject to availability, we can provide same-day or next-day piano removals within Islington and nearby areas.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a piano removal in Islington cost?
The cost depends mainly on the type of piano, distance and access at each property. A straightforward ground-floor upright move within Islington is typically at the lower end of our pricing, while larger grands or properties with multiple flights of stairs will cost more due to additional staff and time. We always provide a clear, written quote before you book. To give an accurate price, we will ask a few questions and may request photos of the piano and access points.
Can you provide same-day or urgent piano removals?
Yes, we can often help with same-day or short-notice piano removals in Islington, subject to vehicle and crew availability. Urgent moves are more likely to be possible on weekdays and outside peak house-moving periods. The more detail you can give us when you first call – piano type, locations, access and timing – the quicker we can confirm if we can assist. Urgent jobs may carry a premium compared with standard bookings, but we will always be transparent about costs.
Is my piano insured during the move?
Yes. Your piano is covered by our goods in transit insurance while it is being transported in our vehicle, and we also hold public liability cover. This provides protection in the unlikely event of accidental damage or incident associated with our work. We take great care to avoid problems in the first place through proper planning, equipment and handling techniques. If you would like to see policy details or have specific concerns about a high-value instrument, just ask when requesting your quote.
What is included in your piano removal service?
Our service includes supplying a trained team, all necessary moving equipment, protective covers and blankets, careful removal from the property, secure loading, transport and placement of the piano in your chosen room at the destination. We also protect vulnerable surfaces where needed. What is not included as standard is tuning, repairs, long-term storage or crane hoisting, although we can often help arrange these with trusted partners. Everything that is included will be clearly itemised in your written quotation.
How is a specialist piano removal different from a standard man-and-van?
A casual man-and-van may not have the experience, equipment or insurance needed for safe piano handling. Our dedicated piano removals service uses trained staff, purpose-made skates, padded covers and secure strapping, along with pre-move planning specific to your instrument and property. We understand how pianos are constructed, where they can safely be lifted and the best way to negotiate tight corners and stairs. This significantly reduces the risk of damage or injury compared with a general, non-specialist service.
How far in advance should I book a piano removal?
For the best choice of dates and times, we recommend booking your piano removal at least one to two weeks in advance, particularly if you are moving at the end of the month or during peak house-moving periods. However, we understand that situations change and completions can move, so we always try to accommodate shorter notice where possible. Even if your dates are not yet fixed, it is helpful to contact us early so we can discuss options and pencil in provisional availability.
Man and a Van
Man and a Van Islington – Local, Professional Moving Help
At Man and Van Islington, our man and a van service is designed for people who want flexible, professional help without the cost and complexity of a full-scale removal. You still get an experienced driver, a properly equipped van, and a fully insured, careful service – just tailored to smaller moves and quick jobs in and around Islington.
What Our Man and a Van Service Includes
Our service bridges the gap between a casual helper and a full removals crew. You get:
- A modern, clean, loading-ramp-equipped van sized for flats, small homes and offices
- A trained, professional driver who also helps with loading and unloading
- Additional porters available if you need extra hands
- Protective blankets, straps and basic tools for furniture disassembly
- Goods in transit insurance and public liability cover
- Collection and delivery anywhere in Islington, London and the UK
This is ideal when you need proper care and reliability, but not a large team or lorry.
Local Expertise in Islington
Islington has its own quirks – narrow streets, controlled parking zones, basement flats and top-floor conversions with no lifts. Because we operate in Islington every day, we understand:
- How to plan around bus lanes, red routes and loading restrictions
- Where and when we can safely load without risking a ticket or delay
- How long it really takes to clear a flat on the 4th floor with tight stairwells
- What access details letting agents and building managers usually require
We use that knowledge to schedule realistic times, bring the right size van, and keep your move running smoothly from start to finish.
Who Our Man and a Van Service Is For
Homeowners
Perfect for smaller house moves, moving items into storage, or transporting a few pieces of furniture bought or sold locally. If you do your own packing, our team focuses on safe loading, transport and unloading.
Renters
Flats and house shares in Islington often don’t justify a full removals crew. Our service is ideal for 1–2 bedroom flats, part moves, or moving between rented properties, with careful handling through communal areas and stairwells.
Landlords
We regularly help landlords clear properties between tenancies, move furniture in or out, or deliver replacement beds, sofas and white goods. We work considerately around neighbours and building rules.
Businesses
From moving a few desks and chairs to transporting stock, archive boxes or IT equipment, our professional man and a van option offers flexible short-notice help, including early morning or evening moves to minimise disruption.
Students
We help students move into and out of halls and shared houses, often with a single van load of boxes, suitcases, a desk, and a few bits of furniture. We can collect from multiple addresses if friends are sharing a move.
What We Can and Cannot Move
Items Commonly Included
- Household furniture – beds, sofas, tables, wardrobes, drawers
- Boxes, bags, suitcases and small personal items
- Kitchen appliances – microwaves, small fridges, washing machines (disconnected)
- Office furniture – desks, chairs, filing cabinets, pedestals
- IT and electronics – PCs, screens, printers, TVs (properly packed)
- Sports equipment, bicycles and hobby items
Items Typically Excluded
- Hazardous materials – gas bottles, fuel, chemicals, paint thinners
- Illegal or stolen items
- Unsecured cash, jewellery, and important documents (better carried by you)
- Pets and live animals
- Industrial machinery or exceptionally heavy items without prior notice
If you’re unsure, ask when you enquire. Some items can be moved with extra preparation, equipment or insurance arrangements.
Our Step-by-Step Man and a Van Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
You contact us with your addresses, approximate inventory and preferred date. We’ll ask a few questions about access (floors, lifts, parking) and any awkward items. Based on that, we provide a clear, no-obligation quote, either fixed price or hourly depending on the job.
2. Survey (Virtual or Onsite)
For most man and a van jobs, a quick virtual survey – photos or a video call – is enough. For more complex moves, we can attend in person. The survey ensures we send the right size van, enough staff, and any special equipment to avoid surprises on the day.
3. Packing & Preparation
Many clients choose to pack themselves; we’ll give guidance on box sizes, labelling and protecting fragile items. If you prefer, we can provide a packing service, including materials. Before move day, we ask that boxes are sealed, furniture is emptied, and parking is reserved where possible.
4. Loading & Transport
On the day, our trained team arrives on time, walks through the property with you, and plans the loading order. We use blankets, straps and careful stacking to protect your belongings. Everything is securely loaded and transported directly to your new address, or to storage if agreed.
5. Unloading & Placement
At the destination, we unload items into the rooms you specify, not just the doorway. We’ll reassemble any furniture we took apart (if agreed in advance) and place heavy items before we leave, so you can start settling in without heavy lifting.
Transparent Pricing – No Hidden Extras
We keep pricing straightforward and fair. For most Islington man and a van jobs we offer:
- Hourly rates with a minimum booking period, ideal for short local moves
- Fixed-price quotes for clearly defined moves or longer distances
Your quote will set out:
- How many movers and what size van are included
- What is covered in terms of loading, travel and unloading
- Any additional services, such as packing or furniture assembly
Parking fees, congestion/ULEZ charges and tolls are either built in or clearly itemised. We don’t add surprise costs at the end.
Why Choose a Professional Man and a Van over DIY
Hiring a friend with a van or doing it yourself can seem cheaper, but it often costs more in time, damage and stress. With Man and Van Islington you get:
- A professional, punctual service that turns up as agreed
- Trained movers who know how to handle awkward staircases and tight corners
- Goods in transit insurance so your belongings are financially protected
- Proper equipment – trolleys, blankets, straps – not just guesswork
- Efficient loading so you need fewer trips and less time off work
In short, you reduce risk of injury, damage to the property, and unexpected hassle on what is already a busy day.
Insurance and Professional Standards
Your belongings are important, and we treat them that way. Our man and a van service includes:
- Goods in transit insurance for your items while they are in our care on the vehicle
- Public liability cover in case of accidental damage to buildings or third parties
- Trained moving teams who follow best practice for lifting, stacking and securing loads
We work to the same standards on a one-van student move as we do on a full house removal – consistent, careful and accountable.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We take a practical, responsible approach to every move:
- Furniture is wrapped with blankets and strapped securely to prevent movement
- Floors and doorways are protected where necessary to avoid scuffs and marks
- We plan van loads to minimise shifting during transport
- We reuse durable packing materials where hygiene allows and recycle cardboard
- We group local jobs sensibly to reduce unnecessary mileage and emissions
The aim is simple: protect your belongings, your property and the environment as far as is practical.
Real-World Uses of Our Man and a Van in Islington
Moving House or Flat
Many one and two-bedroom properties in Islington can be moved with a single well-planned van load. We often help couples, sharers and small families move locally without the cost of a large crew.
Office and Shop Moves
From moving a small office across town to relocating stock or fixtures between sites, our service suits businesses that need reliable, insured transport without a full relocation package.
Student and Short-Term Lets
Students and people in short-term accommodation rely on us for quick, affordable moves at the start and end of tenancies, including awkward access and tight timings.
Urgent and Same-Day Moves
Occasionally, plans fall through at the last minute. Where our schedule allows, we offer same-day and next-day man and a van support for urgent clearances, end-of-tenancy moves and short-notice relocations.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a man and a van in Islington cost?
Costs depend on how long the move takes, how many movers you need, and the distance travelled. For local jobs we usually work on an hourly rate with a minimum booking period, which we’ll explain clearly before you commit. Larger or longer-distance moves may be priced as a fixed quote, especially if there are special requirements such as heavy items or awkward access. The best way to get an accurate figure is to contact us with your inventory and addresses for a tailored quotation.
Can you provide same-day or urgent man and a van bookings?
We do our best to accommodate same-day or urgent requests, especially within Islington and nearby areas. Availability depends on our schedule and the size of the job, so the sooner you call, the better we can help. For urgent moves, it’s useful if you can send photos or a quick video of what needs moving so we can allocate the right van and team. While we can’t guarantee every last-minute request, we’ll always offer the most practical solution available.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Yes. Our service includes goods in transit insurance for your belongings while they are being moved in our vehicles, as well as public liability cover for damage to third-party property. This is in addition to the care our trained team takes in handling and securing your items. There are standard terms and limits, which we’re happy to explain when you book. We always recommend you keep high-value jewellery, important documents and small personal items with you rather than in the van.
What’s included in your man and a van removals service?
Our core service includes a professional driver who also helps with loading and unloading, a suitably sized van with blankets and straps, and safe transport between the agreed addresses. We place items into the rooms you specify, not just at the front door. Optional extras include additional porters, packing services, supply of boxes and materials, and dismantling/reassembly of furniture if arranged in advance. Parking charges and congestion/ULEZ fees are either included in the quote or clearly itemised so you know exactly what you’re paying for.
What’s the difference between your service and a casual man-with-a-van?
Our man and a van offering is run to full removals standards. That means fully insured transport, trained staff, proper equipment and clear paperwork. A casual man-with-a-van may not have adequate insurance, may not turn up on time, and may lack the skill to handle awkward or fragile items safely. We operate as an established removals company, so you benefit from professional planning, accountable service, and support before, during and after your move, without losing the flexibility of a smaller, more affordable option.
How far in advance should I book?
For weekend and month-end moves, we recommend booking at least one to two weeks in advance, as these are our busiest times in Islington. For weekday moves or smaller jobs, a few days’ notice is often enough, though more time gives you better choice of slots. That said, we understand that not every move can be planned perfectly; if you’re working to a tight deadline, contact us and we’ll do everything we can to fit you in or find a practical alternative date.

Our Step-by-Step Removals Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
Contact us by phone, email or online form with the basics: addresses, property type, floors, parking situation and what needs to be moved. We provide a clear, no-obligation quote outlining rates, likely duration and what is included.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For larger or more complex moves we arrange a short video call or onsite survey. This allows us to assess access, volume and any special requirements such as dismantling, awkward staircases or tight doorways.
3. Packing & Preparation
You can pack your own boxes, or we can provide packing services at an additional cost. Either way, we offer guidance on how to pack safely and label boxes clearly. On the day, we protect key items with blankets, wraps and straps.
4. Loading & Transport
Our trained moving team loads your belongings systematically to keep them secure in transit, using protective covers and securing points. We plan the route based on traffic, restrictions and the size of vehicle to avoid unnecessary delays.
5. Unloading & Placement
At your new address we unload into the rooms you specify, placing furniture where you want it and reassembling items we dismantled, where agreed. Before leaving, we check that everything has been unloaded and is in the correct place.
Transparent Man and Van Pricing
We believe in clear, upfront pricing with no hidden extras. Our man and van service is usually priced:
- On an hourly rate for local Islington moves, with a minimum booking period
- Or as a fixed price for clearly defined jobs or longer distances
Your quote will set out:
- Number of movers and size of vehicle
- Estimated time or fixed price
- Any additional services (packing, materials, dismantling)
- Parking or congestion-related charges where applicable
This approach lets you understand exactly what you are paying for and compare fairly with other options.
Why Choose a Professional Man and Van Over DIY
Hiring a professional man and van service in Islington offers several advantages over doing it yourself or using a casual, unregistered operator:
- Trained movers know how to lift, carry and stack safely to reduce the risk of damage or injury
- We supply the right vehicle, trolleys, blankets and straps so you do not need to hire or borrow equipment
- Our timing is reliable – you are not relying on friends, rented vans or last-minute cancellations
- Your belongings are covered by goods in transit insurance instead of travelling at your own risk
- We understand building rules, loading restrictions and parking controls in Islington
For most people, the reduced stress, time saved and lower risk of damage more than justify the cost of using a professional service.
Insurance and Professional Standards
Our operations are fully covered to protect you and your belongings:
- Goods in transit insurance for your items while they are in our care
- Public liability cover in case of accidental damage to third-party property
- Trained moving teams who work to agreed handling and safety procedures
We log every booking, record key details of your move and maintain our vehicles regularly. This structured approach means you receive a consistent, dependable service every time.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We treat your belongings as if they were our own. On each job we use high-quality blankets, protective covers and securing straps to minimise movement and friction in transit. Fragile and high-risk items receive extra attention.
We are also committed to working more sustainably. Where possible, we reuse durable packing materials, minimise unnecessary mileage through efficient route planning and dispose of unwanted items via licensed recycling centres rather than landfill. If you are decluttering, we can suggest local charities that may accept suitable donations.
Typical Man and Van Use Cases in Islington
Moving House or Flat
For smaller households, a man and van service is often the most practical way to move. We can complete most local flat moves within half a day, carefully handling stairs, lifts and restricted access typical of Islington properties.
Office and Studio Relocations
From shared workspaces to small studios, we move desks, chairs, stock, equipment and files with minimal downtime. Evening and weekend moves can be arranged on request.
Urgent or Same-Day Moves
Sometimes moves arise at short notice – a tenancy ending, a buyer pushing for completion, or a last-minute purchase needing collection. Subject to availability, we can provide same-day man and van support in and around Islington.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a man and van in Islington cost?
Costs depend on the size of vehicle, number of movers and how long the job takes. For local Islington moves we often work on an hourly rate with a minimum booking period, which we explain clearly in your quote. Factors such as stairs, lifting restrictions, distance between properties and packing needs can all affect the final price. We are always happy to review photos or a list of items to give a realistic estimate in advance, so you can budget with confidence.
Can you provide same-day or urgent man and van bookings?
Yes, we can often accommodate same-day or next-day man and van moves in Islington, depending on existing bookings and vehicle availability. The earlier you contact us, the better the chance we can fit you in and keep costs sensible. For urgent jobs, it helps if you can send photos or a quick list of items so we can confirm the right van size and number of movers immediately. Call us for time-sensitive moves rather than relying solely on email.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Yes. Your belongings are covered by our goods in transit insurance while they are in our vehicle and under our care. We also hold public liability cover for accidental damage to third-party property. There are standard exclusions and limits, which we are happy to explain before you book. For particularly high-value or unusual items, please let us know in advance so we can confirm cover or suggest specialist options if needed. We also encourage sensible packing and labelling to further reduce any risk.
What is included in your man and van removals service?
Our standard service includes a suitable vehicle, at least one trained mover, loading, transport and unloading into your new property. We provide protective blankets, covers and securing straps as needed. Optional extras include packing services, supply of boxes and materials, dismantling and reassembly of furniture, and disposal of agreed unwanted items. Parking arrangements, congestion charges and waiting time are discussed upfront where relevant, so you know exactly what is and is not included before the move day.
How is your service different from a basic man-with-a-van?
Unlike casual operators, we run as a structured removals service with fully insured vehicles, documented bookings and trained moving teams. We survey larger jobs, advise on packing, and plan for access and parking, rather than simply turning up on the day and hoping for the best. Our focus is on safe handling, punctuality and clear communication from enquiry through to completion. In short, you get the flexibility of a man and van with the reliability and standards you would expect from a professional removals company.
How far in advance should I book?
For weekend or month-end moves in Islington, we recommend booking at least one to two weeks in advance, especially during busy periods such as summer and around university term dates. For mid-week or smaller jobs, a few days’ notice is often enough. That said, we always keep some flexibility in our schedule to accommodate shorter-notice moves where possible. If your dates are fixed – for example, a tenancy start or completion day – it is wise to secure your slot as soon as you know the details.

Local Removal Van Specialists in Islington
Operating daily in and around Islington means we know the local streets, parking restrictions and building layouts extremely well. This local knowledge lets us plan loading points, best access routes and time slots to keep your move smooth and on schedule.
We regularly handle moves around Highbury, Angel, Canonbury, Holloway, Barnsbury and the wider N1, N5 and N7 areas, as well as into and out of central London. Tight staircases, controlled parking zones and busy roads are part of our normal working day.
What We Can and Can’t Move
Included Items
Our removal vans are equipped to handle most household and office contents, including:
- Sofas, armchairs, beds and wardrobes
- Dining tables, desks and office furniture
- Fridges, freezers, washing machines and other appliances
- TVs, computers and standard electronic equipment
- Boxes of clothes, books, kitchenware and personal belongings
- Archive boxes, stock, files and office equipment
Excluded or Restricted Items
For safety and insurance reasons, we cannot normally carry:
- Cash, jewellery or other high-value personal items
- Live animals (including pets and livestock)
- Hazardous materials (fuel, gas bottles, chemicals, paint thinners)
- Industrial machinery or items exceeding safe lifting limits
- Unsecured pianos or items requiring specialist moving gear (by prior arrangement only)
If you’re unsure about a particular item, we’ll advise at the quotation stage so there are no surprises on moving day.
Our Step-by-Step Removal Van Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
You contact us with the details of your move: addresses, property size, dates and any special items. We provide a clear estimate outlining the expected removal van size, crew number and timescales. For most standard flats and small houses we can quote based on a detailed inventory over the phone or by email.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For larger or more complex moves, we’ll carry out a short survey, either by video call or a visit. This lets us check access, parking, stairs, lift availability and any awkward items. It helps us send the right van, tools and team so your move is completed in one well-organised go.
3. Packing & Preparation
You can pack your own boxes, or we can provide packing services and materials. On the day, our trained team will:
- Protect furniture with blankets and shrink wrap where needed
- Dismantle simple items (such as bed frames) if agreed in advance
- Label and organise items logically for efficient loading and unloading
4. Loading & Transport
Your belongings are loaded systematically into the removal van, heavier items first and fragile items secured properly. Our vehicles are fitted with straps and blankets to minimise movement and damage in transit. We then transport your goods directly to your new address, using routes chosen to balance speed and safety.
5. Unloading & Placement
At the destination we unload and place items into the rooms you specify. We position furniture where you want it and stack boxes by room labels to make unpacking easier. If we dismantled basic items, we can reassemble them as agreed beforehand.
Transparent Removal Van Pricing
We believe in clear, straightforward pricing. Typical jobs are charged either:
- At a fixed price agreed in advance for the whole move, or
- By the hour, with a minimum booking period for smaller jobs
Your quote will set out exactly what is included: number of movers, size of van, estimated duration and any optional extras such as packing materials or dismantling. There are no hidden charges for stairs or standard waiting time, provided we’ve been informed of the details before the move.
Why Choose Professional Removal Van Services Over DIY?
Hiring a proper removals team is usually safer, faster and more cost-effective than doing it yourself or using a casual man-with-a-van.
- Trained movers know how to lift, carry and protect items correctly, reducing the risk of damage and injury.
- A correctly sized removal van means fewer trips and less time wasted.
- We handle access planning, parking and building rules so you don’t have to.
- Our work is covered by goods in transit insurance and public liability cover, which informal operators rarely provide properly.
When you factor in van hire, fuel, equipment, time off work and potential damage, a professional service usually represents better value and much less stress.
Insurance and Professional Standards
Your belongings are important, and we treat them that way. Man and Van Islington operates to clear, professional standards:
- Goods in transit insurance to protect your items while they are in our vehicle
- Public liability insurance for work carried out in and around your property
- Trained and experienced moving teams, briefed on each job before arrival
- Clean, well-maintained vans equipped with blankets, straps and trolleys
We will explain the key insurance terms and any limits before you book, so you understand exactly how your items are protected.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
Every move is carried out with care and respect for both your belongings and your property. We protect floors and walls where necessary, and we always work tidily and safely.
We also take a practical approach to sustainability:
- Reusing durable packing materials where appropriate
- Planning routes to reduce unnecessary mileage and idling
- Encouraging customers to recycle unwanted items responsibly
Our aim is to complete your move efficiently while minimising waste and disruption.
Common Use Cases for Our Removal Vans
Moving House in or from Islington
From studio flats to multi-bedroom homes, we regularly move residents within Islington and to other parts of London and the UK. We are familiar with local mansion blocks, conversions and new-builds, which helps us plan access and timing accurately.
Office and Business Relocations
For businesses, we move desks, chairs, filing cabinets, IT equipment and stock with minimal downtime. We can schedule moves outside normal working hours when needed and coordinate with building management regarding lifts and loading bays.
Urgent and Same-Day Moves
Sometimes circumstances change quickly – a tenancy ends earlier than expected or a sale completes faster than planned. Where availability allows, we offer same-day or short-notice removal van bookings in Islington and nearby areas. Calling us as early as possible gives the best chance of securing an urgent slot.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a removal van in Islington cost?
The cost depends on the size of your move, access at each property, travel distance and whether you need one or multiple movers. Smaller flat moves within Islington are often priced on an hourly basis with a minimum booking, while larger house or office moves are usually quoted at a fixed price. Once we know your inventory, addresses and preferred dates, we provide a clear written quote so you can see exactly what you’re paying for and what’s included.
Can you provide a removal van at short notice or the same day?
Yes, we can often provide same-day or short-notice removal vans in Islington, especially for smaller moves or single-van jobs. Availability is influenced by the time of year and day of the week, so it’s always best to call as early as you can. We’ll check our schedule, suggest realistic time slots and advise whether we can safely complete your move that day without rushing or cutting corners on protection and loading.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Yes, your items are protected by our goods in transit insurance while they are being moved in our vans, and by public liability cover for work on your premises. These policies are designed to cover the core risks of a properly run removals job. We’ll explain the main conditions and any limits before you confirm your booking. For very high-value or unusual items, we may recommend you obtain additional cover or declare them specifically so we can advise the best way to protect them.
What’s included in your removal van service?
Our standard removal van service includes a suitable van, a professional moving team, loading, safe transport and unloading into the rooms you choose. We provide blankets and securing straps to protect your furniture during transit. Optional extras include packing materials, full or partial packing, and basic dismantling and reassembly of agreed items. Parking arrangements, access instructions and any building requirements are discussed in advance so everything is clear before moving day.
How is a professional removal van different from a basic man-and-van?
A professional removal van service offers structured planning, trained staff and proper insurance, rather than just a driver and vehicle. We carry the right equipment, understand how to protect furniture and properties, and provide written quotes and job details. A casual man-and-van may be fine for a few boxes, but for full home or office moves, professional standards, insurance and experience make a real difference to safety, speed and the likelihood of your belongings arriving undamaged.
How far in advance should I book a removal van in Islington?
For peak times such as Fridays, month-end and summer, we recommend booking at least two weeks in advance to secure your preferred date and time. For smaller or more flexible moves, a few days’ notice is often enough, and we will always try to accommodate last-minute requests. The more information you can provide early on – inventory, addresses, parking details – the easier it is for us to plan your move and allocate the right van and team.

Our Local Expertise in Islington
Islington presents its own challenges: narrow one-way streets, controlled parking zones, basement flats and top-floor walk-ups. Because we are based in the area, we know how to plan routes, manage loading in busy streets and work within local parking rules.
We regularly move customers in Angel, Highbury, Barnsbury, Canonbury and Clerkenwell, and we are used to coordinating with building management and concierge teams where needed. This local knowledge helps keep your move efficient and reduces the risk of delays or parking penalties on the day.
Step-by-Step Removals Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
You can contact us by phone, email or online form with basic details: property size, addresses, access notes and your preferred moving date. We will ask a few simple questions to understand what needs moving, any time constraints and whether you need packing help. Based on this, we provide an initial transparent quote with no hidden extras.
2. Survey (Virtual or Onsite)
For anything more than a very small move, we recommend a survey. This can be done via video call or an onsite visit in Islington. During the survey we:
- Assess access at both properties (stairs, lifts, parking, distance to vehicle)
- Confirm the volume of items and any fragile or bulky pieces
- Discuss packing options and disassembly/reassembly needs
The survey ensures we send the right size vehicle, the correct number of trained movers and appropriate equipment.
3. Packing & Preparation
You can choose between:
- Full packing service – we supply materials and pack everything for you
- Part packing – we pack fragile or high-risk items only
- Self-packing – you pack, and we advise on best practice
Our teams use quality boxes, bubble wrap, paper and furniture blankets. Items are labelled clearly, and furniture that needs it is carefully dismantled. We protect floors, banisters and doorways as needed to avoid damage in communal areas.
4. Loading & Transport
On moving day we arrive at the agreed time, introduce the team and carry out a brief walk-through before starting work. We load systematically, securing items with straps and blankets. Vans are chosen to match your load and are maintained to a high standard. Your goods are protected by goods in transit insurance while in our care.
5. Unloading & Placement
At your new property we unload room by room, following your labels and instructions. Furniture is reassembled where agreed, and boxes are placed in the correct rooms to make unpacking easier. Before leaving, we do a final check with you to ensure everything is where it should be and that you are satisfied with the service.
Transparent Pricing for Removal Services
We believe in clear, upfront pricing. Our quotes typically consider:
- Property size and volume of items
- Distance between addresses
- Access challenges (stairs only, long carries, restricted parking)
- Number of professional movers required
- Optional services such as packing, materials and storage
Smaller moves may be priced on an hourly rate with a minimum charge, while larger house or office moves are usually quoted as a fixed price. All costs are explained in plain language so you know exactly what is included before you commit.
Why Choose Professional Removals Over DIY
Hiring a van and asking friends might seem cheaper, but it often proves more stressful and time-consuming. Professional removers bring experience, proper equipment and insurance cover that a casual option simply cannot match.
- Safety – correct lifting techniques and equipment reduce the risk of injury
- Protection – furniture and property are properly wrapped and handled
- Efficiency – experienced teams load, transport and unload far more quickly
- Reliability – your move is booked, scheduled and managed, not dependent on favours
While we offer a flexible, man-and-van style service, our standards, training and insurance are those of a full removals company.
Insurance and Professional Standards
Your belongings are important, both financially and emotionally. That is why we maintain robust insurance and working standards:
- Goods in transit insurance covering your items while they are in our vehicles
- Public liability cover for peace of mind on-site
- Trained moving teams experienced in handling fragile and bulky items
We follow best practices for packing, lifting and securing loads, and we routinely work in properties with high-value fittings and finishes where extra care is essential.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We treat every move as if we were handling our own possessions. Furniture is wrapped, mattresses are covered, and surfaces are protected wherever needed. Our vans carry blankets, straps, trolleys and protective materials to keep your goods safe from scuffs and knocks.
We also take a practical, sustainable approach where possible. We encourage re-use of boxes, offer advice on responsible disposal of unwanted items and plan routes efficiently to reduce unnecessary mileage. Our aim is to provide a careful, efficient service with a sensible environmental footprint.
Real-World Use Cases
Moving House in Islington
Whether you are upsizing from a flat to a townhouse or downsizing after many years, we handle full household moves of all sizes. We are used to coordinating with estate agents, key collection times and tight completion schedules.
Office and Business Relocations
For businesses, we offer structured office removals designed to minimise disruption. We can move workstations, filing, stock and light machinery, and we are experienced in handling IT equipment with care. Moves can be scheduled outside normal working hours where required.
Urgent and Short-Notice Moves
Sometimes moves arise at short notice: rental changes, last-minute completions or urgent clearances. Subject to availability, we can often accommodate same-day or next-day removals in and around Islington, providing a rapid but still well managed service.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do removal services in Islington cost?
The cost depends mainly on the volume of items, access at each property and the distance between addresses. Small flat moves within Islington may be charged at an hourly rate with a minimum booking period, while larger house or office moves are usually priced as a fixed quote after a survey. Optional extras such as packing, materials and storage will also affect the price. We always provide a clear, written breakdown in advance so you know exactly what you are paying for and what is included.
Can you do same-day or urgent removals?
Yes, we can often help with same-day or short-notice moves, especially within the local Islington area. Availability depends on our existing bookings and the size of your move, so it is best to call us as soon as you know you need help. For urgent moves we may simplify the service slightly, focusing on safe loading, transport and unloading, with packing services offered where time allows. Even on short notice, we use professional, fully insured teams and treat your belongings with the same level of care.
What insurance cover do you provide?
Your belongings are protected by goods in transit insurance while they are being moved in our vehicles, and we also carry public liability cover for work at your property. This offers protection in the unlikely event of accidental damage or an incident during the move. Specific limits and conditions apply, and we are happy to explain these in detail and provide documentation on request. For particularly high-value items, we may recommend additional cover or special handling arrangements to ensure everything is fully protected.
What is included in your removals service?
Our standard service includes the vehicle, trained movers, loading, transport and unloading of your belongings between the agreed addresses. We carefully handle furniture, boxes, white goods and most everyday household or office items. At your new property we place items into the rooms you specify. Optional extras include packing services, packing materials, furniture dismantling and reassembly, and short-term storage if required. During your quote we will confirm exactly what is included so there is no confusion on moving day.
How is a professional removal service different from a basic man-and-van?
A basic man-and-van often provides transport only, with limited labour, equipment and cover. Our service combines the flexibility of a man-and-van with the standards of a full removals firm. That means fully insured vehicles, trained moving teams, proper packing and protection, planned access checks and clear communication throughout. We can handle larger, more complex moves, fragile or bulky items and multi-stop jobs. In short, you benefit from professional planning, safety and reliability rather than just a vehicle and a driver.
How far in advance should I book my move?
For a smoother experience we recommend booking as early as possible, especially if you are moving at the end of the month or during busy periods such as summer. Many customers aim to confirm their date two to four weeks in advance. However, we understand that completion dates and rental agreements can change, so we do our best to stay flexible. If you need a last-minute move, contact us and we will let you know our earliest availability and what options we can offer.
Storage

Professional Storage Services in Islington
Our storage service is designed to be simple and stress-free. We collect your items from your home, office, or student accommodation, wrap and protect them, transport them to our partner storage facility, and return them when you are ready.
We combine the flexibility of a local man and van with the reliability of a fully insured removals company. You get clear communication, fixed pricing options, and a single point of contact throughout.
Local Storage Expertise in Islington
Working daily in Islington – from Georgian terraces in Barnsbury and Canonbury to new-build flats around Highbury & Islington – we understand the realities of storing belongings in London. Many homes and offices simply don’t have the space, and moves rarely line up perfectly.
Our local knowledge means we can navigate tight streets, controlled parking zones and restricted access buildings efficiently. We arrange suitable loading times, handle stair-only properties and lifts, and ensure your belongings are packed to withstand both transit and time in storage.
Who Our Storage Service Is For
Homeowners
Ideal if you’re selling, renovating, downsizing or between properties. We can store furniture, appliances and personal belongings while you complete works or wait for your new home to be ready.
Renters
Perfect for tenancy changes, moving in with a partner, or relocating abroad. Keep non-essential items in storage rather than paying for a larger rental property.
Landlords
Store furniture and fixtures during refurbishments or while changing from furnished to unfurnished lets (or vice versa). We can collect from multiple properties if required.
Businesses
Flexible storage for surplus office furniture, stock, files and equipment. Particularly useful during office moves, refits, seasonal periods or when taking on new premises.
Students
Cost-effective storage for term-time belongings during holidays, gap years or study abroad programmes, without the hassle of dragging everything home and back again.
What We Can Store
We can safely collect, pack and store a wide range of household and commercial items, including:
- Sofas, armchairs, beds and bedroom furniture
- Wardrobes, chests of drawers, tables and chairs
- Desks, office chairs, filing cabinets and shelving
- Domestic appliances (fridges, washing machines, etc.)
- IT equipment, monitors and small office electronics
- Boxes of clothes, books, kitchenware and personal items
- Exhibition materials, promotional items and archived paperwork
Items We Cannot Store
For safety, legal and insurance reasons, we are unable to store:
- Perishable goods and food items
- Flammable, explosive or hazardous materials (including gas bottles and fuel)
- Illegal goods or items of unknown origin
- Live animals or plants
- Cash, high-value jewellery or irreplaceable documents
- Firearms, weapons or ammunition
If you are unsure about a particular item, we will advise you in advance so there are no surprises on collection day.
Our Step-by-Step Storage Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
You contact us by phone or online with a brief outline of what you need to store and for how long. We ask a few questions about access, item types and timing, then provide a clear, no-obligation quote. We can price by volume, item list or a combination, depending on your needs.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For larger loads, we carry out a short virtual or onsite survey. This allows us to assess volume accurately, plan parking and access, and identify any items needing special handling. The survey ensures we send the right size vehicle and the right number of trained movers on the day.
3. Packing & Preparation
On the agreed date, our professional team arrives with protective materials. We can offer a full packing service, a part-pack service (for fragile items) or simply supply materials if you prefer to pack yourself. Furniture is wrapped, mattresses are protected, and breakables are carefully boxed and labelled for storage.
4. Loading & Transport to Storage
Your belongings are loaded securely into our vehicle, item by item, using blankets, ties and appropriate stacking methods. We then transport them to our partner storage facility, keeping everything covered by goods in transit insurance. We produce an inventory so you know exactly what is in storage.
5. Unloading & Placement in Storage
At the storage facility, we unload and place your items carefully into your allocated unit or container. Items are stored off the floor where necessary and arranged logically so that priority items can be accessed more easily at redelivery.
Transparent Storage Pricing
We believe in clear, understandable pricing. Your storage costs typically consist of:
- Collection and transport fee – based on distance, volume and access
- Monthly storage fee – based on the size of unit or container required
- Optional packing materials and packing service
There are no hidden extras: all charges are itemised in your quote. If you add or remove items, we will update the price accordingly and confirm before proceeding.
Why Choose Professional Storage Over DIY or Casual Man-and-Van?
Using a casual man-and-van to drop items at a self-storage unit can appear cheaper, but important protections and standards are often missing. With us, your belongings are handled by trained staff, properly packed, fully inventoried and covered by insurance throughout.
We also coordinate the entire process – including access times and vehicle sizes – so you avoid last-minute problems with parking, unsuitable units or damage caused by poor stacking. *Cheap* transport without the right protection can easily become costly if items are broken or lost.
Insurance and Professional Standards
As a dedicated removals and storage specialist, we operate to recognised industry standards:
- Goods in transit insurance – covers your belongings while we move them between your property and storage.
- Public liability cover – protects you and your property while our team is working onsite.
- Trained moving teams – staff are experienced in safe lifting techniques, furniture protection and secure loading for storage.
We treat your belongings as if they were our own, with clear communication and honest advice throughout.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We place strong emphasis on protecting both your belongings and the environment. Furniture and fragile items are wrapped using suitable materials, and we reuse blankets, crates and certain protective materials wherever possible to reduce waste.
Where disposable packing is necessary, we favour recyclable materials and encourage customers to reuse boxes for future moves. Our vehicles are maintained efficiently and routes are planned carefully to minimise unnecessary mileage across Islington and beyond.
Real-World Storage Use Cases
Moving House
If your sale completes before your purchase, or you’re relocating in stages, we can hold your belongings in storage until your new home is ready. We then deliver on the exact date you need.
Office Relocation
During an office move or refurbishment, we can store surplus desks, chairs, filing cabinets and archived files, allowing you to phase the move without disrupting daily operations.
Urgent and Short-Notice Moves
Tenancy ending unexpectedly? Contractor delays? We can arrange swift collection and short-term storage, giving you breathing space to sort out your next step without rushing decisions.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does storage in Islington cost?
Costs depend on three main factors: how much you need to store, how long for, and how complex access is at your property. We typically charge a one-off fee for collection and transport, plus a monthly storage rate based on the unit or container size required. During your enquiry, we’ll ask about your items and carry out a quick survey if needed, then provide a clear written quote with all charges itemised so you know exactly what you’re paying for.
Can you offer same-day or urgent storage?
Where our schedule allows, we can often arrange same-day or next-day collection for urgent storage needs in Islington. This is particularly common when tenancies end suddenly or building works overrun. The more notice you can give, the better, but if you’re in a tight spot, contact us and we’ll do our best to help. We’ll confirm availability, likely timings and any out-of-hours surcharges before you commit, so you can make an informed decision.
Are my belongings insured while in storage?
Your items are covered by our goods in transit insurance while we move them from your property to the storage facility and back again. The storage facility itself has its own insurance arrangements for the building and units. For particularly high-value items, we may recommend you check your home or business insurance to ensure you have adequate cover while items are in storage. We’re happy to explain how our cover works and provide documentation on request.
What’s included in your storage service?
Our standard service includes collection from your address, loading by a professional team, protective wrapping for furniture, transport to the storage facility, and careful placement into your allocated unit or container. We maintain an inventory of stored items and arrange redelivery when you’re ready. Optional extras include full or part packing services and packing materials. We’ll agree all elements in advance, so there is no confusion about what is and isn’t included on the day.
How is this different from a basic man-and-van to self-storage?
A casual man-and-van will typically just move items from A to B, with limited protection, little or no insurance and no inventory. We provide a structured, managed service: trained staff, protective packing, documented item lists and goods in transit insurance. We also coordinate directly with the storage facility, plan access, and ensure your belongings are stacked correctly for long-term storage. This significantly reduces the risk of damage, loss or unexpected issues compared with a bare-bones transport-only service.
How far in advance should I book storage?
For planned moves or renovations, booking one to three weeks in advance is ideal, especially during busy periods such as summer and month-end. This gives us time to carry out a survey if required, reserve the right size storage space and schedule the right team. That said, we regularly handle short-notice requests and will always try to accommodate you. If your dates are uncertain, we can pencil in provisional slots and confirm details closer to the time.

We offer flexible packing options, from a full household pack to just a few fragile items, always using strong, purpose-made boxes and protective materials – never supermarket cast-offs.

Businesses
From small offices to retail units, we can pack files, IT equipment, stock and fixtures so you can resume trading quickly at your new premises. We use systemised labelling for easy set-up at the new location.
Students
If you’re moving into or out of student accommodation in or around Islington, we provide cost-effective packing and boxes for smaller loads, including books, clothes, computers and musical instruments.

If you are unsure about a particular item, we will advise during your survey so there are no surprises on the day.
Our Step-by-Step Packing and Moving Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
You contact Man and Van Islington with your moving details and what you need packed. We ask a few questions about your property size, key items and dates. Based on this, we provide a clear, no-obligation quote outlining the packing service, boxes and materials required.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For larger moves or complex properties, we carry out a virtual or onsite survey. This allows us to assess access, volume, fragile items and any special requirements. The survey helps us allocate the right number of trained packers, the correct van size and the exact quantity of boxes and materials.
3. Packing & Preparation
On the agreed date, our team arrives with all necessary materials. We systematically pack room by room, wrapping, cushioning and boxing items securely. Every box is labelled by room and contents to make unpacking straightforward. If required, we can also provide a partial pack for fragile items only.
4. Loading & Transport
Once everything is boxed and ready, we load your goods onto our vehicles, using blankets, ties and protective covers. Our professional drivers know the streets and parking challenges around Islington, helping to minimise delays and keep your schedule on track.
5. Unloading & Placement
At your new property, we unload boxes to the correct rooms according to their labels. If we are providing a full removals service, we also place furniture and larger items as directed. We can, by arrangement, assist with basic unpacking and removal of used boxes once you are settled.
Transparent Pricing for Packing and Boxes in Islington
We believe in straightforward, transparent pricing. The cost of our Packing and Boxes service is based on:
- Property size and approximate volume of contents
- Level of service – full pack, partial pack, or fragile-only
- Number of packers required and time on site
- Quantity and type of packing materials supplied
Your written quote will clearly state what is included, with no hidden charges. If your requirements change before move day, we adjust the quote in advance so you always know where you stand.
Why Choose Professional Packing Over DIY
Many people start packing themselves and quickly realise how time-consuming and physically demanding it is. Professional packing offers several advantages:
- Trained techniques that reduce the risk of breakages and damage
- Correct choice of box sizes and protective materials
- Faster completion, often within one day for typical homes
- More organised labelling and room-by-room packing
- Reduced stress and disruption to work and family life
Compared to a casual man-and-van, a structured removals and packing service gives you better protection, planning and accountability, backed by appropriate insurance.
Insurance and Professional Standards
Man and Van Islington operates to recognised industry standards to protect you and your belongings. We are fully insured, including:
- Goods in transit insurance – covering your items while they are being moved
- Public liability cover – for peace of mind in and around your property
Our packing teams are trained in safe handling, correct lifting and secure packing methods. We keep up to date with best practice in the removals industry so that your belongings receive the care they deserve.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We treat your possessions as if they were our own. Fragile items are wrapped individually, boxes are never overloaded, and furniture is protected with covers and blankets. For sustainability, we prioritise recyclable and reusable materials wherever possible and can collect used boxes for reuse on future moves or appropriate recycling, by arrangement.
We also plan our routes and loading carefully to reduce unnecessary journeys, helping to lower the environmental impact of your move.
Real-World Uses of Our Packing and Boxes Service
Moving House
From studio flats to multi-bedroom houses in Islington and beyond, our full packing service saves you days of work, reduces breakages and allows you to move with confidence.
Office and Business Relocations
We handle the packing of office contents, stock and equipment so your team can stay focused on business. Structured labelling ensures important files and IT equipment are quickly accessible at the new site.
Urgent and Short-Notice Moves
If you have limited time before a completion date or end of tenancy, we can often provide short-notice packing support. Our experienced team can pack an average flat or small house in a single day, subject to availability.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does packing and boxes cost in Islington?
The cost depends mainly on the size of your property, how much you have to move and whether you want a full or partial packing service. Smaller flats needing a fragile-only pack will be at the lower end, while larger homes with full contents packing will cost more. Your quote includes labour, boxes and all standard packing materials. After a short consultation or survey, we give you a fixed, written price so you know exactly what you’ll pay before you commit.
Can you provide same-day or urgent packing?
Where our schedule allows, we can often help with short-notice or urgent packing in Islington. Same-day service is sometimes possible for smaller properties or partial packs, depending on team availability and access. The sooner you contact us, the more likely we are to fit you in. Even on urgent jobs, we never rush the essentials – fragile items still receive proper wrapping and protection. We’ll always be honest about what can realistically be achieved in the time you have.
Are my belongings insured while you pack and move them?
Yes. We are fully insured, including goods in transit insurance to cover your belongings while they are being moved, and public liability cover for work in and around your property. Insurance operates within stated terms and limits, which we are happy to explain before you book. We pack carefully to minimise the chance of any claim being needed, but you have the reassurance that proper cover is in place when using our professional service.
What exactly is included in your packing and boxes service?
Our service includes the supply of quality boxes and standard packing materials, plus trained packers to wrap, cushion and box your belongings. We label boxes by room and contents, prepare items for safe loading and can coordinate directly with our removals team if we are also moving you. The quote will state whether it’s a full or partial pack and detail any agreed extras, such as basic unpacking or post-move box collection. We tailor the service to your needs, not a generic template.
How is your service different from a basic man-and-van?
A basic man-and-van typically provides transport and lifting only, leaving you to source boxes, pack everything and manage the risk of breakages yourself. Our service is a structured removals and packing solution with trained staff, professional-grade materials, careful planning and fully insured operations. We take responsibility for the protection, organisation and safe handling of your goods from start to finish, giving you far greater peace of mind than an informal, transport-only option.
How far in advance should I book packing in Islington?
For the best choice of dates, we recommend booking your packing service 2–4 weeks before your move, especially for larger homes or peak periods such as month-end and Fridays. That said, we understand that completion dates and tenancy changes are not always confirmed early. If your plans are still taking shape, contact us as soon as you have a likely timeframe and we’ll hold provisional availability where possible and guide you on the next steps.

- Large safes or server racks beyond safe manual handling limits
- Live animals or plants in large quantities
- Cash, high-value jewellery or personal valuables
If you’re unsure about particular items, we’ll clarify what’s possible and, where needed, recommend the right specialist.
How Our Office Removals Process Works
1. Enquiry & Quote
Contact us with your current and new addresses, approximate move date, and a brief outline of your office size. We’ll ask a few straightforward questions about access, floors, lifts and parking. Based on this, we provide an initial estimate or arrange a survey for a more detailed quote.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For anything more than a very small office, we recommend a survey. This can be done via video call or onsite. We assess volumes, staircases, lifts, IT equipment, furniture disassembly needs and any building rules. This allows us to allocate the right number of movers, vehicles and materials and give you a clear, transparent price.
3. Packing & Preparation
You can choose between:
- Full packing service – we supply boxes and materials, pack your office contents, label everything by department or room, and prepare furniture.
- Part packing – we handle fragile, IT and heavy items, while your team packs personal and low-risk items.
- Self-pack – you pack, and we provide guidance on best practice.
We can also dismantle and reassemble standard office furniture where needed.
4. Loading & Transport
On move day, our trained, professional team arrives on time with protective materials, trolleys and the correct vehicle. We protect lifts, doorways and floors where necessary, then load systematically, starting with IT and fragile items. Everything is secured for transit and transported directly to your new office, unless storage has been arranged.
5. Unloading & Placement
At your new premises, we unload in line with your layout plan, placing desks, chairs and equipment in the correct rooms or departments. We can reassemble furniture, position meeting rooms and set up work areas so your team can get up and running quickly. We remove used packing materials we’ve supplied, leaving the space tidy.
Transparent Pricing Explained
We believe in clear, upfront pricing with no hidden extras. Office removals are usually priced based on:
- Volume of items and size of the office
- Number of movers required
- Distance between properties
- Access conditions (stairs, lifts, parking constraints)
- Optional services such as packing and dismantling
We’ll explain exactly what is included in your quote so you can compare like-for-like with confidence. For straightforward jobs we may quote a fixed price; for more complex moves we may use a day-rate or phased approach, clearly agreed in advance.
Why Choose Professional Office Removals Over DIY
Attempting an office move with a casual man-and-van or internal staff can be risky and time-consuming. A professional service offers:
- Trained teams who understand manual handling and safe loading techniques
- Proper goods in transit insurance for your equipment and furniture
- Planned schedules that reduce disruption to your operations
- Specialist materials to protect IT and furniture
- Clear accountability if something goes wrong
What might look cheaper on paper can quickly become more costly if staff are injured, equipment is damaged, or you experience prolonged downtime.
Insurance and Professional Standards
Your business assets are important. We back our service with appropriate cover and professional practices:
- Goods in transit insurance to protect your office contents while they are being moved
- Public liability cover in case of accidental damage to premises or third parties
- Trained moving teams experienced in handling IT and office furniture
We follow sensible risk assessments, use the right equipment for heavy items, and brief the team thoroughly before every move. Documentation can be provided for building management or compliance purposes if required.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We handle your items as if they were our own. Desks, chairs and cabinets are wrapped or protected as appropriate, and IT equipment is carried and secured with extra care. Floors, walls and lifts are protected where there is a risk of scuffing or impact.
Sustainability matters to us too. Wherever possible we use reusable crates, durable blankets and recyclable packing materials. We avoid unnecessary trips by planning routes efficiently and using appropriately sized vehicles. If you’re clearing an office, we can arrange responsible disposal or donation of usable furniture and equipment.
Real-World Use Cases
Moving to a New Office
Whether you’re upsizing to a larger space or downsizing to a more flexible office, we manage the full move, including packing, dismantling and set-up at the new address.
Office Relocation Within a Building
We regularly handle internal moves, such as relocating teams between floors or wings. These require careful coordination with building management and precise timing, which we’re used to handling.
Urgent and Short-Notice Moves
Lease issues, building problems or rapid growth can mean you need to move quickly. Where our schedule allows, we offer short-notice and same-day office removals in Islington, prioritising safety and clarity even when time is tight.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does an office removal in Islington cost?
The cost depends on the size of your office, the volume of items, access at each property and the distance between them. Small office moves within Islington might be completed in half a day with a small team, while larger multi-floor relocations can take a full day or more. We provide a clear, tailored quote after discussing your requirements and, where appropriate, carrying out a survey. There are no hidden extras – we explain exactly what is included before you commit.
Can you handle same-day or urgent office moves?
Where our schedule allows, we can accommodate same-day or short-notice office moves in Islington. This is more feasible for smaller offices or part-moves, but we will always be honest about what is realistic. If you’re facing an urgent situation, contact us as early as you can with key details: addresses, approximate size, and any deadlines. We’ll quickly assess options, explain availability, and prioritise essential items so your business can keep operating.
What insurance cover do you provide for office removals?
Your office belongings are covered by our goods in transit insurance while they are being moved, and we carry public liability cover for work on-site. This offers protection for your furniture, equipment and premises in the unlikely event something goes wrong. We also reduce risk through careful planning, trained staff and the right protective materials. If you have particularly high-value or specialist items, let us know in advance so we can confirm cover limits or discuss additional arrangements.
What’s included in your office removals service?
Our standard service includes loading, transport and unloading of your office furniture, equipment and boxed contents between the agreed addresses. We protect items during handling, use appropriate equipment and place everything in the right rooms or areas at the new office. Optional extras include packing, supply of crates and materials, dismantling and reassembly of furniture, and clearance or disposal of unwanted items by arrangement. Your quote will clearly list what is included so you can plan accordingly.
How is your service different from a casual man-and-van?
While a basic man-and-van may be suitable for very small, low-risk moves, an office relocation usually needs a more structured approach. We provide trained, professional teams, appropriate insurance, planning support and protective materials. We’re used to working in busy office buildings, coordinating with facilities teams and meeting building rules. That means reduced risk to your staff, equipment and reputation. With us, you know exactly who is turning up, when they’ll arrive, and what standards they work to.
How far in advance should I book my office move?
Ideally, aim to book at least two to four weeks in advance, especially if you’re moving at the end of the month or on a Friday, when demand is highest. This gives us time to survey, plan, arrange materials and coordinate with your building managers if needed. However, we understand that business circumstances change, and we’ll always try to help with shorter notice where our schedule allows. The earlier you contact us, the more options we can offer in terms of dates and timings.

Our Step-by-Step Man with a Van Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
You contact us by phone, email or online form with the basic details: addresses, access information, list of items and preferred dates. We ask clear, practical questions so we can provide a fair, accurate quote with no hidden extras.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For straightforward jobs, we can often assess everything via photos or video call. For more complex moves – such as large furniture through tight staircases – we may recommend an onsite survey. This helps us plan the right van size, team and timing to avoid delays on the day.
3. Packing & Preparation
You can pack your own boxes, or we can provide professional packing as an optional extra. We supply quality boxes and materials if needed. On moving day, we protect furniture with blankets and wraps, and can dismantle simple items like bed frames and tables when agreed in advance.
4. Loading & Transport
Our trained team loads the van carefully, securing items with straps so they stay stable in transit. We choose routes to minimise bumps and delays, taking into account local traffic and access restrictions in and around Islington.
5. Unloading & Placement
On arrival, we unload items into the rooms you specify, not just to the door. We can reassemble any agreed furniture and will check you are satisfied with placement before we leave. Rubbish from materials we have supplied is cleared from site.
Transparent Pricing for Man with a Van in Islington
We believe in clear, straightforward pricing. Our man with a van service is usually charged on an hourly basis with a minimum booking period, or as a fixed price for clearly defined jobs. Your quote will set out:
- Number of movers and size of van
- Estimated duration or fixed fee
- Any additional services – packing, materials, dismantling/reassembly
- Parking or congestion charges where applicable
There are no surprise extras for stairs or distance within reasonable limits; if a job is likely to take longer than usual, we explain this in advance so you can decide comfortably.
Why Choose a Professional Service Over DIY or Casual Man-and-Van
Hiring a friend with a van or an unregulated operator might seem cheaper, but it often ends up costing more in damage, delays and stress. With Man and Van Islington you get:
- Trained movers who understand handling, lifting and loading techniques
- Proper protection for your belongings and property
- Reliable timekeeping and clear communication
- Documented insurance cover (not just verbal promises)
- Receipts and paperwork suitable for landlords, employers and businesses
We treat small moves with the same care as full-scale relocations, so you are not relying on chance or goodwill.
Insurance and Professional Standards
Your belongings are important, whether it is a single sofa or a whole flat. Our service includes:
- Goods in transit insurance to protect your items while they are in our care
- Public liability cover to safeguard you and your property
- Trained and vetted moving teams with regular refresher training
We provide written confirmation of cover on request. While we handle everything carefully, this protection gives added peace of mind, especially for landlords, businesses and tenants with valuable items.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We take a practical, responsible approach to each move:
- Using blankets, wraps and straps to prevent knocks and scuffs
- Protecting floors and walls where access is tight
- Planning lifts to reduce manual-handling risk to both staff and customers
- Reusing durable packing materials where safe and hygienic to do so
- Recycling cardboard and plastics through appropriate local schemes
Our vans are maintained to run efficiently, helping to reduce unnecessary emissions on local journeys.
Real-World Use Cases
Moving House or Flat
Many Islington residents use our man with a van service when moving between one- and two-bedroom properties, especially where access is tricky. We manage the whole process so you can focus on keys, utilities and paperwork.
Office and Small Business Moves
From creative studios to small consultancies, we move desks, chairs, computers and stock with minimal disruption. Evening or weekend moves are available by arrangement to keep your trading hours intact.
Urgent and Same-Day Moves
Occasionally, circumstances change at short notice – a tenancy ending, a sale completing early or urgent storage needs. Where our schedule allows, we offer same-day or next-day man with a van bookings in Islington. Calling us as early as possible gives the best chance of securing a slot.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a man with a van in Islington cost?
Pricing depends on the size of van, number of movers and duration of the job. For most local moves we charge an hourly rate with a minimum booking period, so you only pay for the time you actually need. Larger or more complex moves can be priced as a fixed quote once we understand the items, access and distance involved. Your quote will clearly show all costs, including any potential parking or congestion charges, so you can budget with confidence.
Can you offer same-day or urgent man with a van bookings?
Yes, we can often provide same-day or next-day man with a van services in Islington, depending on availability. Our schedule is busiest at month-end, Fridays and weekends, so urgent slots are always subject to the bookings already in place. Call us as early as possible, share the key details and we will let you know what is realistically achievable. If we can help, we will give you a clear time window and price before you commit, so there are no surprises.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Yes. We provide goods in transit insurance for your items while they are in our vehicle and under our control, as well as public liability cover for any accidental damage to property. This is in addition to the care our trained team takes with packing, loading and unloading. Insurance has sensible conditions – for example, we may ask that fragile or high-value items are properly packed or declared in advance – and we are happy to explain what is covered in plain language before you book.
What is included in your man with a van removals service?
Every booking includes a professional driver-mover, a suitable van with blankets and straps, careful loading and unloading, and transport between your specified addresses. We place items in the rooms you choose, not just at the door. Optional extras include packing materials, full or part packing service, and dismantling or reassembly of straightforward furniture by agreement. Parking arrangements and permits can be handled by you or, in some cases, we can assist if told in advance, with any costs clearly itemised.
What is the difference between your service and a casual man-and-van?
Many casual man-and-van operators work without proper insurance, training or paperwork, and may treat each job as a one-off favour. Our service is run as a professional removals operation: insured, registered and staffed by experienced movers who follow safe handling procedures. We carry the right equipment, keep our vans maintained, and provide written quotes and invoices. That means better protection for your belongings, clearer communication, and a far lower risk of last-minute cancellations or unexpected price changes on the day.
How far in advance should I book?
For the best choice of dates and times, we recommend booking one to two weeks ahead for standard man with a van jobs in Islington, and longer if you are moving at the end of the month or during peak periods. However, we understand that not every move can be planned that far in advance. If your timeline is tight, contact us as soon as you know your dates; we will always be honest about availability and do our best to fit you in without overpromising.

How Our Removals Process Works
1. Enquiry & Quotation
You contact us by phone or online with basic details: current and new addresses, type of property, rough inventory and your preferred moving date. We then provide a clear, no-obligation quote based on the information you share, explaining exactly what is included.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For anything more than a very small move, we carry out a brief survey. This can be virtual (via video call and photos) or onsite in Islington. The survey lets us assess access, parking, stairs or lifts, and the volume of items to be moved. It ensures we send the right vehicle size, number of movers and equipment on the day.
3. Packing & Preparation
You can choose between self-packing or our professional packing service. If we pack, our team arrives with quality boxes, tape and wrapping materials. We carefully wrap fragile items, label boxes clearly and prepare furniture by dismantling where needed. Even if you pack yourself, we can still protect larger items with blankets and covers on the day.
4. Loading & Transport
On moving day, our trained team arrives at the agreed time, introduces themselves and walks through the plan with you. We protect floors and bannisters as needed, then load the vehicle systematically, securing everything with straps and blankets. Your items are then transported directly to your new address using suitable, well-maintained vehicles.
5. Unloading & Placement
At your new property, we unload and place items into the rooms you specify. Furniture is reassembled where agreed, and we position larger pieces so you can start using your new space straight away. Before leaving, we do a final check with you to ensure nothing has been missed.
Transparent, Fair Pricing
We believe in clear, straightforward pricing with no hidden extras. Our quotes typically consider:
- Volume of items (or size of property)
- Distance between addresses
- Access issues (stairs only, long walks, restricted parking)
- Number of movers required
- Optional services such as packing, unpacking and furniture assembly
We explain exactly what is included in your price before you book. If your requirements change, we update the quote and discuss it with you in advance, so you stay in control of your budget at all times.
Why Use a Professional Removal Company Instead of DIY?
Moving yourself or hiring a casual man-and-van may seem cheaper at first, but it often turns out more stressful, time-consuming and risky. As an established Islington removals company, we provide:
- Trained staff who know how to lift, carry and load safely
- Specialist equipment such as trolleys, straps and protective covers
- Fully insured services for your peace of mind
- Reliable timings and properly maintained vehicles
- Planning support to avoid access and parking problems on the day
With professional movers, you reduce the risk of damage to your belongings, your property and yourself, and you gain the reassurance that comes with a properly managed service.
Insurance and Professional Standards
We take our responsibilities seriously and operate to high professional standards.
- Goods in transit insurance – covers your belongings while they are being transported in our vehicles, subject to policy terms and declared values.
- Public liability cover – protects against accidental damage to third-party property during the move.
- Trained moving teams – our staff are experienced, properly briefed for each job and follow safe working practices at all times.
Policy summaries are available on request, and we are always happy to explain how cover applies to your particular move.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We handle your belongings as if they were our own. Furniture is wrapped in padded blankets, delicate items are carefully protected, and we take care not to mark walls, floors or doorways. Where possible, we use reusable blankets, crates and durable packing materials to reduce waste.
We also plan our routes efficiently, often combining deliveries and collections within Islington and surrounding areas to limit unnecessary mileage. Where we must use disposable materials, we favour recyclable options and encourage customers to reuse or recycle boxes after their move.
Common Real-World Moves We Handle
Moving House Within or To/From Islington
Typical jobs include flat-to-flat moves within the same block, family moves from Islington to outer London, or relocations into the area from elsewhere in the UK. We are used to working around school runs, building rules and parking suspensions to keep the day running smoothly.
Office and Commercial Relocations
We help businesses upgrade or downsize premises, move between shared workspaces, or reorganise layout within an existing office. Moves are planned to minimise downtime, and we can work outside normal business hours where required.
Urgent and Short-Notice Moves
Occasionally, circumstances change at the last minute – a tenancy falls through, completion dates shift or an emergency relocation is needed. Where our schedule allows, we offer same-day or next-day removals in and around Islington, providing a calm, structured service even when time is tight.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a removal company in Islington cost?
The cost of a removal service in Islington depends on several factors: property size, volume of belongings, distance travelled, access (stairs, lifts, parking) and any additional services like packing or furniture assembly. Smaller flat moves might be priced on an hourly rate, while larger house or office moves are usually based on a fixed quotation after a survey. We provide clear, itemised quotes so you can see what you’re paying for, and we explain any potential extra charges in advance, such as long carry distances or additional collection/drop-off points.
Can you do same-day or urgent removals in Islington?
We can often accommodate same-day or urgent moves, especially within Islington and nearby areas, but it depends on our existing bookings and the size of your move. Smaller flat or student moves are easiest to arrange at short notice, while full house or office relocations may need at least some planning time. If you need an urgent move, contact us as early as possible with your addresses and an outline of what needs moving. We will check availability, give you a realistic time window and confirm what we can safely achieve within that timeframe.
What insurance cover do you provide for my move?
We provide goods in transit insurance to cover your belongings while they are being transported in our vehicles, subject to policy limits and standard exclusions. We also hold public liability insurance in case of accidental damage to third-party property. During your enquiry, we can outline the main terms and, if needed, advise on declaring particularly valuable items so they are properly noted. While we handle your possessions with great care, insurance is there as an added safeguard, giving you peace of mind that you are protected if something unexpected occurs.
What is included in your removals service?
Our standard removals service includes a suitably sized vehicle, a professional moving team, protective blankets and basic equipment, loading and unloading, and transport between your specified addresses. We place items into the rooms you choose and can, by prior agreement, dismantle and reassemble straightforward furniture. Optional extras include full or partial packing, supply of packing materials, and help with unpacking at your new property. We do not usually handle plumbing, electrical disconnection or reconnection, but we can coordinate with your chosen trades where required. All inclusions will be clearly listed in your written quote.
How is a professional removal company different from a basic man-and-van?
A basic man-and-van is often just transport and labour on a casual basis, with limited planning and, in some cases, minimal insurance. As a professional removal company, we provide structured planning, trained staff, appropriate vehicles, and fully insured services. We carry out surveys where needed, bring specialist equipment, protect your property and belongings, and follow agreed schedules. This reduces the risk of damage, delays and unexpected costs. For small, simple moves a basic man-and-van might suffice, but for most home and business relocations, a professional removal service offers far greater reliability and peace of mind.
How far in advance should I book my removal in Islington?
Ideally, you should book your removal as soon as you have a firm moving date, particularly if you are moving on a popular day such as a Friday or at month-end. For standard house moves, 2–4 weeks’ notice is usually enough to secure your preferred slot. Office and larger commercial moves may benefit from even more lead time for detailed planning. That said, we understand dates can change, so we remain as flexible as possible. If your situation is last-minute, contact us anyway – we will always see what we can do within our schedule.

- Illegal items or substances
- Live animals and pets
- Perishable or refrigerated food for long-distance moves
- Heavy machinery or items exceeding safe manual handling limits without prior agreement
- Cash, jewellery and high-value documents (we advise you keep these with you)
If you are unsure whether an item can be moved, we will clarify this during the quotation and survey stage.
Our Step-by-Step Removals Process
1. Enquiry & Quote
You contact us with basic details: addresses, property type, access information, move date and a rough idea of what needs to be moved. We ask clear, practical questions and then provide a transparent quotation with no hidden extras. Where there are variables, we explain them in plain language so you know exactly what to expect.
2. Survey – Virtual or Onsite
For anything more than a very small move, we recommend a brief survey. This can be done via video call or an onsite visit in Islington. We assess access, parking, staircases, lifts, and volume of goods. This allows us to send the right size vehicle, the correct number of movers, and to plan timings accurately.
3. Packing & Preparation
We offer both:
- Full packing service – we supply materials and pack all agreed items for you
- Part packing service – we pack fragile or awkward items, you pack the rest
We use strong boxes, tape and high-quality wrapping materials, clearly label boxes, and prepare furniture for safe transport. If you choose to self-pack, we can provide guidance on how best to pack and label to speed up unloading and placement.
4. Loading & Transport
On moving day, our trained team arrives on time, walks through the plan, and protects key areas before moving anything. Items are loaded systematically into our vehicles, using blankets, straps and covers to prevent movement and damage. We drive carefully, following pre-planned routes that account for traffic and access restrictions across Islington and beyond.
5. Unloading & Placement
At your new property, we unload in an organised order, placing boxes and furniture into the rooms you specify. Larger items are reassembled where agreed, and we check that everything listed has been delivered before we leave. Our aim is to leave you as settled as possible at the end of moving day.
Transparent Pricing for Islington Removals
We price our removals clearly and fairly, based on:
- Volume of goods and number of rooms
- Access at both addresses (stairs, lifts, parking distance)
- Number of movers and size of vehicle required
- Distance between properties
- Additional services such as packing, dismantling/reassembly or packaging materials
We can quote a fixed price for most moves once we have completed a survey. For smaller, straightforward jobs, we may offer a clear hourly rate with minimum booking times set out in advance. There are no surprise charges added on the day.
Why Choose Professional Removals Over DIY
Trying to move yourself, or relying on a casual van hire, often ends up costing more in time, stress and damage. Our professional removals team:
- Uses the correct equipment, materials and techniques to protect your belongings
- Plans access and parking to avoid delays and fines
- Works efficiently, often completing in hours what can take a day or more on your own
- Reduces the risk of injury from lifting heavy or awkward items
- Provides insurance-backed protection that DIY moves do not offer
A basic man-with-a-van service may handle simple single-item moves. When it comes to full home or office relocations, a structured, insured removals service offers far more security and reliability.
Insurance & Professional Standards
Your belongings are important to you, and we take that responsibility seriously. Man and Van Islington operates with:
- Goods in transit insurance – covering your items while they are being transported in our vehicles
- Public liability cover – protecting you and your property from accidental damage caused by our work
- Trained moving teams – staff are briefed on safe handling, lifting techniques and property protection
We follow sensible, professional standards on every move: confirming details in writing, turning up on time, respecting neighbours and communal areas, and leaving properties tidy. If an issue does arise, you have a clear point of contact and a straightforward complaints process.
Care, Protection and Sustainability
We handle every item as if it were our own. That means careful wrapping of fragile goods, using furniture covers for sofas and mattresses, and protecting floors where needed. We load our vehicles methodically to prevent movement and crush damage.
We are also conscious of our environmental impact. Wherever practical, we reuse durable packing materials, encourage customers to return or recycle boxes, and plan routes to cut unnecessary mileage. Our aim is to combine careful handling with a sensible, sustainable approach to removals.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much do removals in Islington cost?
The cost of a removal in Islington depends mainly on the size of your property, the volume of items, access at each address and the distance travelled. Smaller flat moves may be priced on an hourly basis with a clear minimum charge, while full house or office moves are usually quoted at a fixed price after a survey. Additional services such as packing, dismantling and materials will be itemised so you can see exactly what you are paying for before you confirm your booking.
Can you provide same-day or urgent removals?
We can often accommodate same-day or urgent removals, particularly for smaller moves, provided we have availability. The more notice you can give us, the easier it is to allocate the right team and vehicle. If you have an urgent move, call us with full details of the properties, access and contents. We will be honest about what can safely be achieved within your timeframe and provide a clear price before you commit.
What insurance cover do you provide during my move?
Your belongings are covered by our goods in transit insurance while they are being transported in our vehicles. We also hold public liability cover in case accidental damage occurs to property during the move. Our team is trained to minimise risk through careful packing, handling and loading. We will explain the key terms and any limits of cover when you book, and we are happy to answer specific questions about high-value items so you can decide if you need additional personal insurance.
What is normally included in a removals service?
A standard removals service includes loading your furniture and boxed belongings, transporting them to your new address and unloading into the rooms you specify. We protect items with blankets, covers and straps, and take reasonable care of floors and doorways. At your request, we can also provide packing materials, packing services, dismantling and reassembly of basic furniture, and the removal of unwanted packaging at the end. Anything agreed will be listed clearly in your quotation so you know exactly what is included.
How is a professional removals service different from a basic man-and-van?
A basic man-and-van is often suited to very small or single-item moves, but it rarely provides the planning, protection and insurance of a professional removals service. With us, you benefit from a structured survey, a written quotation, trained staff, goods in transit insurance, public liability cover and proper packing materials. We bring the right size vehicle and team for the job and follow a clear process, reducing the risk of damage, delays and unexpected costs that can arise with informal services.
How far in advance should I book my removal?
For the best choice of dates, especially at month-end and weekends, we recommend booking your removal at least two to four weeks in advance. That said, we understand that completion dates and tenancy arrangements can change at short notice. If your timing is uncertain, contact us early so we can pencil in provisional dates and discuss options. We will always do our best to accommodate late bookings, but early contact gives you more flexibility and helps ensure a smooth, well-planned move.
